I am going to Florida soon...does taking Ativan really help with fear of flying??

I have an extreme phobia of flying...typically I can't sleep or eat for several days before a trip and I always freak out and cry and throw up on the plane. My doctor prescribed Ativan but I am skeptical that it will really help. Has anyone tried this? Did it help?

Ativan and Xanax are in the same family - and my friend was given Xanax for her fear of flying. It did wonders for her. Not only was she okay on her flights in both directions, but she even got some sleep each way.

If you are already panicking about the trip, start taking the Ativan now. If you have any side-effects, or find that it's not working--call the doctor and tell him/her--they might change or adjust the strength or switch you to a different pill.

Have a good, safe flight, without anxiety :)
