You might see if your Local Library has a Meeting Room that is free one night a week, and also ask if you can post an ad for a group like this on their bulletin board.
Specify that the Group is for Panic and Anxiety - Only !!
If run properly and slowly, a Group like this can be very helpful to many people, and it also allows them to know that they are not alone with this disorder.
People who are becoming better can tell how they perhaps made themselves drive just a block further than their "safe" area, until they began to realize that they could then go further still, and still be safe. ( just an example of self help and helping others with ideas that have worked for many )
Do Not take any forms of Depression, as this can easily ruin a very good group in a hurry,
and usually does Not help the person with Depression.
- Been there, done that !
there are websites like um...meetup.org I think? Where you can go find other people that want to get together...try that...I have before for an anxiety group.
Got Xanax? I'll b ur # 1 groupie :)
I'm not in your area..but I have panic attacks and PTSD. I've finally found something that helps...risperdal. Ask your dr. They're using it now in small amounts for this. I take one half mg...and sometimes one/fouth mg. If you take more than 1 mg you probably won't be able to function well...everything will seem hard to do. But these SMALL amounts just take the edge off.
Several years ago I was in a group for panic attacks. They had a book they went by. I don't know the name of it. It was a course type book. Didn't help me much because I didn't understand about panic attacks and PTSD. Understanding helps. And..I didn't have any medicine that helped. They gave me all the wrong things because they didn't believe what I was going thru.
It's good that you're doing this. Hope you can help others..and you can all help each other. People who don't go thru these things really can't understand. Good Luck !
