Compulsive lying?

i posted a question about my boyfriend about 3 hours ago... he is bipolar, and i also think he is a compulsive liar. is there any medications he can go on? how is compulsive lying treated, can it even be treated?

There really is no medication for compulsive lying however , there are a range of medications for bipolar disorders.

Now, with regards to lying. It is important for you to understand that lying is part of the human nature. It has to do with risk , reward and acceptance. These are very abstract concepts within the human mind. Sometimes the risk and rewards are more tangible and other times it is merely a habit.

My suggestion is to create an atmosphere of trust, and one dependent on trust. It locks him into a system of telling you the truth. Accordingly to his internal system, he would have to make a conscious choice. However , you also have to note that he may just be a habitual liar and would take an extended period to "break" the habit. An environment of safety , security should be extended to him whereby the behaviour is enforced.

This I never could understand.
Whatever you do, don't ever marry a liar.
