AHH! Help?!?

Question:
I have this friend who has become obsessed with me and absolutely will not leave me alone! I tried being nice, but he just stops at nothing. He texts, emails, IM's, calls (I don't answer though), sends me stuff in the mail, etc. It creeps me out!

I've been trying to ignore him, because it's driving me absolutely crazy! Just two days ago he text me about 10 times in one evening and I stopped responding. He said that I put him in a horrible mood and that he sucks at life (I guess because I stopped texting him?). He suffers from schizophrenia and depression, but I always thought it was under control. I haven't contacted him for about 24hours or so now.

But now he text me to tell me that he slit his wrist because I make him "hurt so much." I'm totally freaked out! I didn't even do anything to him! I'm concerned about him, but I'm worried for my own safety too! He told me he can't control himself. AHH! What should I do?! He has threatened to commit suicide on numerous occasions before.

Answers:
I have had the same experience. After getting the advice from some of my friends in law enforcement I learned that the best possible thing to do is to absolutely ignore the individual, for if you continue to respond that gives them the hope each time they contact you, that you will respond. Once the person sees that you are no longer responding at all they will discontinue contact.

As a fair warning, expect the attempts at contact you to escalate shortly before they stop. However, the worse thing for you to do is to respond. You can also look into a restraining order against the person for harassment, just keep your phone records as proof.
you need to tell either his parents or yours and stay the hell away from him. He could wind up hurting you
you need to get a restraining order against him! trust me, this person is turnign into a stalker and his mental anquish will only get worse.
change your number and email address and take proper orders against him.

Good luck!
you really need to get this guy help call a therapist or something major like that he needs help before he trys to hurt you
well i kno this sounds parental but you really need to tell someone immediatly because if he really is all of these things, he needs serious medical help. also try to talk him out of doing these things by telling him things are going to be okay and tell him that you're sorry but you and him arent meant to be together. it could work...however you DO NEED to tell someone about this and get him immediate help.
Don't let him manipulate you. As far as I can tell, you've done nothing wrong. I would tell him that you can't deal with him and suggest that he get to a psychiatrist.
Give him hints to stop talking. he's really clinging ( thats what its called).try indroduce him to other people. Ask him if he has any parent issues or having truble in any thing. he might just need somone to talk to.tell him to call you at a certain time like after school for about 3 1/2 hours.
just be his friend.
i know what its like to not have anyone there for you and stuff (like hes feeling...depends n suicidal).
but the thing that u can do, is just be a good friend. ya know?
like answer his txt messages and stuff.
and if its get too much than just tell him that you hve youll talk to him soon. and if u do tell him that, make sure that u do talk to him ltr that day or the nxt day, that way hes nos that u still care.
good luck!
:)
well you said he has schizophrenia right? well that alone says that he just over reacted over a small thing. its one of those things that only a psychiatrist can handle with him and maybe even meds. how did you find out he had schizophrenia?
