I am on 'the pill' and have depression. What herbs help depression without interfering with 'the pill'.

Question:

Answers:
You can try St. John's Wart, which is an herb. It shouldn't interfere with the pill. It doesn't do as much as an actual antidepressant, but it does help some people with mild depression. If your depression is more severe, it probably won't do any good and you should think very seriously about seeing your doctor for a prescription for an antidepressant.
What a "The Pill" are you on? There are differences of the chemical make up, which would react differently to different medications and herbal supplements.
One of the best herbs you can use for depression is St. Johns Wort. If you take 300mg three times a day, you'll probably feel a difference in a week to ten days. And the best thing about St. Johns Wort is it's safe for people who are diabetic!
If by "the pill" you mean birth control, then that is a side effect and you may need to switch to another type of pills. But if you are not referring to birth control, you should talk to your doctor first regardless.
Forget about "Herbs"

I tried the St. Johns Wart thing. First thing that happened is that I threw it up and I "never" throw up.

Old wives tale rubbish.
Just as a warning. I looked up something about St. John's Wort and it said it may interfere with birth control. It didn't give a clear answer that it would or wouldn't. It suggested speaking to your doctor or the pharmacist about it before taking it.

Antibiotics can interfere, but thats the only thing I know for sure. Even then, its not all antibiotics. So the best way to go is to ASK YOUR DOCTOR or PHARMACIST.

Good luck! I wanted to try this product, but I forgot to ask when I was there the other day... Oops. Guess I'll ask the pharmacy.
