Can Zoloft make you start feeling funny after 7 weeks of taking it?

Question:
I have been on Zoloft for panic attacks and general anxiety for about 7 weeks now. The last 3 or 4 days I have been getting these lightheaded, out of body, surreal feeling in my head. Does this sound like a temporary effect from the medicine? Has anyone else experienced this before?

Answers:
Not likely a side effect as it would be unusual for this to happen at that stage of treatment. I'd suggest seeing your doc to rule out any possible medical issues and discuss it with the psychiatrist who's prescribing or ask for a psychiatric referral if you've been getting it from a PCP. It may be a breakthrough symptom of derealization which is often associated with Panic Disorder.
If you have been taking Zoloft for that long now, you shouldn't be feeling side effects now with it. YOu need to contact your Dr. right away. It doesn't sound normal!
Most reactions happen in the first two weeks or so but you do end up leveling out around this time. It may mean that you are on too much medicine. Make sure you call your doctor as he/she may have you take half the dose to see if the symptoms resolve. Good Luck!
could be. the name alone makes me feel a little lightheaded. surreal. eventually, for some people, they really get happy and swing from the chandaliers and shoot out the lights. yeh, seen them what pop them zolofts and do a few tequila shooters and raise some real hell. lol
Call the pharmacist who dispensed the Zoloft for you and ask him/her. They're highly trained professionals who have to know all about the medications that they provide to consumers--including any side effects.
that's not normal and I would call my doc. I have never experienced anything like that while taking it, and you shouldn't be having side effects by 7 weeks into treatment.
If you have been taking it that long, I doubt the Zoloft is the problem. You should see a doctor. Your symptoms sound like what I experienced when my blood pressure was low, but it could be a number of things. Talk to a doctor.
