Are there any non-autistic women who have dated a guy with Aspergers?

Question:
And if so, how did it work out?

Answers:
I am married to an Aspie, and know several Aspie's who are happily married. We have our challenges, but no more than any other couple. The biggest problem is that I'm extremely social and he's more of a hermit, and gets upset if I want to socialize without him. I choose to not be as social as I'd like in real life, I stay home and devote myself to him and my kids, one of which is autistic, and use the computer to socialize with other parents. It's a working compromise, we're both happy, and have been so for 14 years. It can work. It just takes finding the right person, someone who is going to be willing to work with each other. All of life is a compromise, and if people equated that to marriage there would be a lot fewer divorces than there are today. I made a commitment to my husband to stay with him until death do us part, and that's what I'm going to do. Yes, he is very annoying at times, but so am I to him. We love each other, so the rest doesn't matter.
I doubt that you're going to find any "yes" answers to this question. What would the two people have in common?
Aspie guys in general have a hard time relating to women. Yet, a lot of aspies do end up with girlfriends. Some even marry and have kids.

Its usually a difficult relationship at best. Most marriages end up in divorce. Aspies are just not that easy to live with.

I'm an aspie and I've been in relationships before. I stopped pursuing them when I realized that I was in them for all the wrong reasons. Things like lust and doing it just because you're supposed to, are not good enough reasons. Relationships turn out to be exercises in futility.

However, everyone is different so if there is someone you have in mind, go ahead and see where it goes. Just make sure that you both understand how to deal with and live with aspergers. Tolerance is not the answer, its the problem.
