Im way too shy..Help!!?

Question:
I have been really shy my whole life. Its something I just cant seem to get past. Im 21, and Im still dependent on my parents, because Im too shy to do anything..Its horrible. Its a hard problem to fix, because there is no reason for me to be shy..I actually love to be around people..so I dont know what I am so afraid of?! It really doesnt make any sence.

Is there anything I can do to get past this? Ive tried forcing myself to talk, Ive tried going to therapy..my doctor even put me on xanax and it still didnt help. I heard once that acting classes can help with shyness..is that true? Im willing to try anything at this point..I just dont know else I can do?

please help me

Answers:
if you're shy in groups, then try to stick with just a person or two at a time. i don't like being in very big groups of people or i tend to be quiet and back away from everybody. acting can help with shyness, because it will get you used to being in front of a lot of people
Acting classes sound good, anything is worth a try. Also, maybe get a part time job in retail or even better, offer to volunteer maybe at a nursing home or something.
Putting yourself off the deep end really helps.
But it also might just be some social anxiety so maybe talk to psychologists about that, pills aren't always the best thing.
It may be social anxiety. If xanax didn't work try antidepressants like zoloft. Acting classes could work because it would push you passed your comfort level.
