Is my sister bipolar?
Question:
Answers:
Yes I have experienced this, my sister is bipolar and now I am raising a 13 year old daughter that is. They do take their medication then they feel better so in their minds they don't need the pills anymore.
Also so deal with manic episodes, and major raging from my daughter. There are some good resources out there to help you learn more about the disorder but as far as the medication issue, well that just takes finding what works in your particular case. My daughter I just tell her she has to take it in front of me and I then check her mouth. I don't like doing this but it is the only way I can guarantee she is getting her medication.
I do understand the torch-er your family is going through we too experience it daily. You have to just remind yourself of the good days, and you also must remember that your sister can not control alot of the emotions she is feeling or dealing with on a daily basis. Just remember family is family and you help family.
I have. Sometimes people need to be on certain pills, but best to see a pyschiatrist.

hey
I am a bipolar male. I am on medication that calms me down. I used to be angry all the time. She needs the right medication to help her. Just hang in there, I know its hard but she is your sister. Get her the right help
yes they think they are better so they quit taking their meds and don't realize that it is only because of their meds they are better.
I am sorry that you and your family are having to go through this. I will keep you in my prayers.
I'm bipolar if i don't take my meds i act the same way take her to her Dr. and try to explain to her that not taking her meds is only making life worse for her and her family. If she won't then i hate to say but put her some where that she is made to take her meds daily and after some counseling maybe she will realize that they do make her feel better and how she is making her family feel that is my opinion i don't know what else to tell you. I feel bad because the same has happened to me and my family. And I'm glad they did what they did i didn't like it at the time but now im glad a feel real good about myself. My opinion only check with Dr.
Yes, it is common for people with bipolar disorder to refuse treatment/medication because they feel good when they are manic or hypomanic. I suggest looking into a family support group for family members living with someone with bipolar. There are also several books that are very effective in helping you learn how to adjust and live with someone that has bipolar disorder. I have used these resources both for myself, my family, and for clients and their families.
Actually i have seen this before and its her bipolar that is doing this to her.. Im sure since she is on medication she is seeing a doctor, Maybe the pills that she is on just is not helping her to the extenct that she needs and she may need something stronger or may need something different all together..
My friend has this and she had to try many different meds before they could really help the bipolar.. Also as others have said more than just a doctor a phychiatrist can help alot, just to talk to and they can offer different meds that some doctors dont think of.
Its always good to get a second oppinion on medication...
Good Luck and never give up!! Remember that..
