I went through a traumatic experience in the 3rd grade; I just realized I can't remember anything before this?

Question:
I went through a traumatic event when I was nine, and I was looking back at it since someone suggested that I might have Post-traumatic stress disorder because of other issues... and I just realized that I do not remember much before this event? I cannot remember my teachers or the students that were in my class (I only remember one teacher and one friend and this kid that had a crush on me). And thinking before 3rd grade makes me feel uncomfortable?

Answers:
A very similar thing has happened to me. I cannot remember my 7th grade year, and when I do it's weird, like I'm looking through a glass to see it. It's a type of amnesia that's caused by your brain suppressing the traumatic events, or so I'm told. It is completely normal and I would suggest you not dwell on it too much as you may end up causing yourself more pain in the long run. If you are truly worried about your mental health, I would suggest seeing a professional.
it happens to a lot of people, but it doesn't mean you have a disorder
