It could be depersonalization, I started getting that in high school, it started out where I felt detached from my body..then I started to feel like I was watching a movie of my life or stuck in a dream or something. Im still waiting for that day when Ill finally "wake up" out of this crap..you should really see someone for this, Id hate for you to end up like me.
heres a link that talks about the disorder, you should check it out:

You may have dissociative tendencies. Learning a few good grounding techniques can really help. I encourage you to talk with your school counselor. Really sit down with her and explain to her (as you did with us) these feelings of detachment/unreality, and ask if she will work with you on some grounding techniques.
Good luck in your senior year!

Look up dissociation and depersonalization and see if that fits. It sounds about right, from what you've said, but you'll know better than anybody.
That must be very frustrating. Do you still feel depressed? Are you still seeing a doctor? Are you taking any medications that might have these side-effects. The only advice that I can give is to talk to a doctor again and tell him or her all of your symptoms. They know a lot more than I do, but I really hope you get better.
i have had the same problem with detaching myself from life and my body. I think hormonally and through your depression your body chemistry has changed some. I agree with the other answerer that some grounding techniques will be really helpful. Try and find someone you can trust and feel safe with that you can talk things out and help you remember some of your memories. Ive lost some memories and Im trying to recover some of them. It seems the medications that calm me down are the ones that help me remember things. Are you on meds? Maybe a light anti-anxiety med might help you calm down a bit. Good luck your senior year!
Well, where do I start?
The feeling like you have left your body, and short-term memory loss, could have something to do with an Attention Deficit Disorder. Sounds crazy, I know. But if you can't always concentrate, you may be having ruminating thoughts. But that might just be distractions because you are depressed.
You see? It could be anything. Just so you know, I am not a doctor. A psychiatrist could pin a diagnosis on you, if it would make you happy. But if you are concerned, find a way to see a therapist or counselor who knows a lot about emotional well-being. Because if you try to psychoanalyze yourself, you will drive yourself crazy. I got good at that one time. ha ha
You sound more scared than anything. I know, because I've done the same thing in the past. The only way to put your mind to rest, is to find a way, to get a professional answer.
Good luck to you, and may God bless you.
What you are describing almost sounds like an out of body experience and there are different degrees of that and OBE can fall under several mental illnesses but Schizophrenia is the first that comes to mind. Do some research on it. Good luck!!
sounds familiar. dissociative disorder like that may be part of a borderline personality disorder. is there anything you get excited about, and feel more alive? i think you should talk to a specialist. is who you are tied up in where you happen to be, who you happen to be with? my best frioend moved away awhile ago, and i realize that i am no longer sure of who/what i am. i was like a mentor, a friend, a confidant, a teacher... now i am nobody again. ive gone through this so long i will make it through, again. but you are still young, i hope you dont waste your life just watching it go by... i think you need to see a therapist as soon as you can, okay? love ya.
