You need to get a book on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and see a therapist that specializes DBT and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. There is also a DBT workbook that you could greatly benefit from. DBT is also very helpful when conducted in a group setting. You can contact your local community mental health center, NAMI (www.nami.org) or Mental Health America for treatment centers specializes in DBT.

Another good book is I Hate You Don't Leave Me, this book explains borderline personality disorder and gives helpful ways of coping with and understanding BPD.
My best advice to you is to find a therapist who uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Get into individual and group treatment.

Go to your local library and/or bookstore and get your hands on the following book titles:

anything by Linehan, Marsha
Reinventing Your Life - J. Young
I Hate You Don't Leave Me - J. Kreisman.

Best of luck to you,

It sounds like you may have Borderline Personality Disorder.
There is a book which is primarily for those who deal with BP's called: Stop Walking On Eggshells. I highly recommend it. In addition there are also some grest resources for those suffering from it.
Good luck to you.
Hi,
It is not wise to try and diagnose yourself. Remember too, that those are labels and it is not fun to know or have one. Sometimes a professional will not even say what the diagnosis's is because it can become a self fulfilling.
Anyway, you Will need an evaluation and start seeing someone on a regular basis. A personality disorder has a whole host of behavior characteristics and these things take time to unravel.
Even if it is a PD what are you going to do about it? There is no medication for it and it will stigmatize you.
See BPD, at the foot of page 1, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... and depression treatments, on page 2. Don't drink alcohol: it acts as a depressant. See expert therapy, as advised.
have them check your hormone levels...seriously, mine started wacking out after i'd been on birth control pills for awhile, too much estrogen, and i thought i was going crazy -- literally!! it almost ended in divorce until i started researching it, had every symptom listed everywhere i looked. i stopped the pill, started using progesterone cream, and my life is 180 degrees better!!

could be something else, but don't overlook this possibility.
Two other possible diagnoses are cyclothymia or bipolar disorder. Also dysthymia or depression.

My feeling is that you should read websites on various disorders and see which ones sound like you. If you find this to be productive keep reading. A lot of people learn to understand themselves from reading and the books listed above are good books.

Also you should read books on child abuse. The Drama of the Gifted Child by Alice Miller is about psychological abuse of children. There are many others too.

I would seek therapy if you find it affordable. One way to find to find a therapist that deals with abuse would be to talk with the workers at a battered women's center or at a rape crisis center and ask for references. Most every therapist treats people who were abused as children.

Borderline clients sometimes elect to receive weekly supportive therapy throughout life. One cost effective way of doing this is through group therapy. If you seek group therapy, you might consider doing this with a therapist who runs several groups so he/she can place you in a group that will be most beneficial to you. Sometimes borderline patients are grouped together.
Don't be too fast to diagnose yourself with a personality disorder.

This sounds more biochemical to me, with perhaps some bipolarity involved.

Get an evaluation, mood disorders can be treated successfully and you can get your life and stability back.

Recurrent depressions need mental health help.

Hope this helps
