What does that symptom mean when your thoughts race constantly, leaving you confused, then from time to time?

Question:
you get the feeling like the ' bottom dropping from out of your world' then you plummet into a really low mood, into a deep depression...
what is this?
im a 30 year old borderline personality disorder sufferer whos waiting for therapy, i constantly experience lows rarely any high moods..im constantly worrying obsessively, and have these wild racing thoughts, i can never concentrate or think straight, the same thoughts racing through my brain obsessively everyday..i have high anxiety and panic constantly.i have very low self esteem and struggle with a rage problem ive had since 16, rage feelings that i find diffiucult to control..although i have improved in controling the rage, without any therapy....i just wanna know what these symptoms mean and are they a result of the borderline personality disorder and should i just hang on for the therapy...?
or are they symptomatic of another disorder and should i be doing something else, pursuing meds?
can anyone advise?

Answers:
Sweetheart, I am in the same boat. You really do need to hang on to the therapy..and possibly ask to be placed on medication to help calm the symptoms. The things you are experienceing are signs of BPD with Anxiety. I am trying to manage until my insurance is approved. It is a living hell.
maybe its A.D.D.??
Try holding your breath and counting to 60 rapidly in your mind .See how that makes you feel.
The therapist will be better tat this than me but read about OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) some of what your describing is inline with this imbalance. And, do some yoga, it sounds silly but it works.
sounds like you could have obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, severe depression or Bipolar disorder also known as manic depressive. Out of the ones I named I believe it is less like you have Bipolar disorder out of any of the other ones. Yes you should hang on for therapy. Good luck and hang in there!
Sounds like Bipolar disorder to me.
I do that all the time. I was diagnosed with ADD. I have rage, OCD, highs and lows, & can never stay on task {unless I want to}. But then again, you might be bipolar. My cousin is bipolar. We have similar reactions but his are worse then mine. And if you have to take meds be open-minded and watch yourself carefully. I've taken over 20 different ADD meds and every one of them made me depressed after a month of taking them. They helped but made me depressed & suicidal. ADD & bipolar run in my family. So, I kind of know how to deal with things of this nature. Until you go to the doctor take notes of this you do (ie, crying, anger, ocd, etc.). Why you do this? When you did it? What you think caused it?

I've been off my meds for a few years now because we have yet to find one that doesn't make me depressed. I've had to learn how to stay focused & not be controlling & not be angry with ppl or things. It takes time. But the past few months have been difficult for me things have gotten out of whack since my mother died.

hope i helped a little. ---sarah
Ocd - maybe bipolar

Email if u need 2 talk ...
Since we are all taking turns diagnosing you, my guess is bi polar disorder would explain the massive mood swings and panic attacks with depression. You will need meds to calm this down as well as therapy. Hang in there. Try to find a hiding place away from anything that triggers the worse of these things until you can get to help. By all means pursue meds.
are you taking any drugs? Ritalin? are you allergic to food additives? Try eliminating msg from your food and see if that will help your depression feelings. Also try avoiding junk food and tap water for your anxiety and panic. Drink water from purified water machines only. You can wash with tap water, but don't drink it.
THe majority of BIPOLAR patients do not switch moods continuously, the mood episodes last for weeks or months. UGH, when will people realize this.

How do you know that you have borderline personality disorder? Have you been diagnosed by a professional?
These symptoms are very well associated with Borderline PD, but may also be found in depression, OCD, and several other disorders and personality disorders.

Wait until you see the therapist before you start diagnosising yourself. In the meantime, try and get some exercise, have some fun, get enough sleep and eat right.
You've just described alot of my symptoms and i'm amazed to be honest. I'm currently in therapy and my psychiatrist said from what he's heard so far, it might not even be an illness and more a behaviourial problem. I disagree with him entirely as if this isn't an illness then why doesn't everyone think vicious, horrible thoughts about others? OCD is another explanation to my thinking as ocd doesn't just manifest it's self in rituals it can be a form of obssesive thinking that you feel you have no way of controlling. Mentally ill people don't have alot of insight into there condition or behaviours and you seem very self aware of what your thinking and acting like. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy would proberly benefit you as it helps change your thinking behaviour which to be honest is what holds people like you and me back in mostly every situation. I hope you get the help you need good luck.
