Ambien CR Alternative?

Question:
I am currently prescribed Ambien CR 12.5mg for sleep for insomnia...being that they seem work (will usually get 5-7 hours sleep) I am wanting really bad to stop it due to cost and don't want a dependancy. I have been on it for about 2 weeks and want to know if anyone has taken this and/or would know an alternative to help. I have a bottle of Melatonin 3mg, has vitamin B-6 as well. I have about 4 Ambien CR left and the fact that 15 of them cost us $62, the Melatonin or anything that works the same better is looking attractive. Please, any help is much appreciated, thank you in advance.

Answers:
Personally, I have taken Tylenol PM for years. It helps me sleep quite well, keeps me from waking up through the night, and I feel well rested and not groggy when I wake up. You can get a generic of it at any Dollar General store. I also take prescribed Xanax for anxiety, I usually take a xanax and 1 Tylenol pm, and that works for me. I have restless legs at night and insomnia, and this has worked great for me for years. If you can get your doctor to prescribe Xanax for you, it is very inexpensive without insurance. Good luck!
