? to do with my family?
Question:
The thing is I need to turn out as they planned; I must be good at track like my dad (thank God that turned out according to plan), I must get in to my mom's alma mater (we'll see), I try everything to make me more acceptable in their eyes. I feel like an investment, not a person, and I think it's gradually leading towards depression.
Any advice on how I can do something to give me a sense of self-worth?
Answers:
Stop trying to please your parents..yes you can ask for their advice..and take it into consideration but you have to start living for yourself..ife is way to short to go around tryign to please everyone..you need to have one last try and tell them all you need is their support to do what you feel is what you want in life..and if they still do not understand then you'll just ahve to ignore that negativity..
Always keep in your midn that you are a good person...(do not get this confused with arrogance)
but one of the excersizes I tried when i felt bad about myself was
I looked in the mirror every night( or morning) and said
"You are a beautiful person inside and out..who will never settle for less than what you deserve..god put you here for a reason..and that was to be the best i can be...I will repsect myself..so others will follow..and..I will be strong..because that is what god would want you to do..I love myself"
(it doesnt have to eb these exact words but you get what I'm saying)
Sure it sounds cheesey..but if you keep saying it..you will believe it...and also when you say it...believe in yourself...
LLife is wayy to short..live it the best way you can
