Have you ever woke up paralysed, and swore you were awake, but felt like you were dreaming???
Question:
Has this happen to anyone else before, or is it just me??
If so, do you what this could be?
Answers:
It's called sleep paralysis, and it's completely normal even though it is often scary.
Some people experience it often, for others maybe only a couple times in their whole life.
The reason for it is really simple. When we sleep, our brain sends out a signal that basically paralyzes us; that way we don't thrash around, act out our dreams, or hurt ourselves accidentally. Sometimes, we wake up before the paralysis wears off, and we find that we cannot move, or open our eyes. Because our breathing is also still on autopilot, some people feel as if there is a weight on their chests (because they are not controlling their breathing consciously). Some people hear noises, and sometimes those noises are scary. Even though we are awake these noises are left over from our dream state; and when sleep paralysis happens to you, you get scared, right? That's why the noises can turn scary.
It's totally normal, and if you would like to know more about it, look up "sleep paralysis" online at any reputable scientific site.
Hope that helps :)
it has happened to everyone. it's natural. it's called Stage 1 sleep.

This happens to me and my dad all the time. My dad says he feels like there is a witch sitting on his bed. I just feel like I'm being smothered. I am awake but can't open my eyes or move any part of my body and I can't breathe. It's the scariest sensation in the world. My whole body shakes where I'm trying so hard to move. My dad is able to yell, but I can't. I just feel like I'm going to die. Look up sleep paralysis on the Internet, and you'll really find some useful information, that is what I did. Hope this helps. I'm also glad someone else out there understands this thing. It's so hard to explain to people without sounding crazy, lol. I try to relax and stop hyperventilating and try to pick up my leg, or move some part of my body, until I finally come out of it. It's just so scary. It's really bad if my arms are under the covers, or my face is partly covered, anything constricting me. So I try to always fall asleep with my arms out and the blanket down, so it doesn't make it any harder for me to breathe.
This is perfectly normal, don't worry. It's to do with the REM stage of sleeping. The REM state (in which dreaming occurs) is a stage of sleep that occurs throughout the night, about occurs about every 90 minutes for longer and longer periods throughout the night. It's common to find, and is part of the sleep cycle, that just before you wake up you'll be in a period of REM sleep.
Physical changes during the REM state (rapid eye movements, rapid breathing, heart rate and blood pressure increasing) include very temporary and necessary paralysis, because otherwise your body might act out the scenarios of the dreams the brain is dreaming!
All that you have experienced, by waking up with a feeling of a dead weight on you, is that you have entered out of the REM state quite quickly and this state of paralysis is still lingering in your body. It will quickly lift, and is perfectly normal!
It means ur body is dehydrated u might as well suffer constipation at the same time... so my advice is take a lot of water before u sleep and drink fruit juices during day time... notice that u will also feel thirsty upon waking up from such dilemma.
