Bi-polar perhaps?

Question:
I have depression but its not clinical. I do go to a therapist, since february I think. With my family I can be so talkative and hyper and crazy one moment and then really quiet and stuff. Also some days I act like a teenager stereotype and cuss and blah blah blah and the next I'm all prim and proper and then I can be hyper, calm, intelligent. Are these symptoms of being bi-polar?

Everyone has good days and bad days, happy moods and sad moods. Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, is a mood disorder that causes people to have extreme mood changes ranging from depression to mania.

While there is no known cure for bipolar disorder, some medications have been proven to treat certain phases of bipolar illness. SEROQUEL, for example, is approved to treat the depressive episodes and the acute manic episodes in bipolar disorder.

This section explores what bipolar disorder is, who it affects, what bipolar episodes are, and current theories concerning the cause of the illness.

i don't know if they are symptoms, but i'm just like that.
one second im really really hyper, and the next, i'm like BLAH.
Well, nobody can really answer this who is not a professional. I would suggest you go to a psychiatrist.
Bipolar is when a person has mood swings from manic to depressive and back again. Ask your therapist.
Could it be a reaction to the situations that are around you, like, if everything around you is energenic then you feed off that and it makes you hyper. Alot of people have mood swings, but that doesn't mean it's bipolar disorder. But you should watch these cycles (see if there are cycles) write them down and show your therapist and tell her any other symptons you might have that don't seem that important. Like when you're withdrawn if you get extrememly tired or what not. There are usually more symptoms then just mood swings. It may be nothing.
dont worry. some people go through alot of worries and what not and their hormone levels are sky rocketing and dropping. in any case you just have anxiety. it sounds like your a pretty normal person but these dont sound like any signs of bi-polar disease. just because you visit a therapist doesnt mean you suffer from bi polar disease, some people just cope with life more different than others. in any case just get a medical evaluation so they can determine for sure if you are or not and that'll be the only sure way...

Episodic atypical depression - bipolar depressions can manifest the entire gamut of endogenous, nonendogenous and/or atypical depressive symptomatology, and they are always recurrent over time . Soft bipolar depressions usually show atypical depressive features. Patients are mood responsive, which means that they respond to favorable circumstances with a temporary lifting of the mood that can last hours to a day or two before returning to the depressed state. Other symptoms may include eating too much, sleeping too much, feeling worse towards evening and intense tiredness or lethargy.

* Hypomania - hypomania is of two types, euphoric and dysphoric or irritable. It is also of two durations, episodic and protracted or characterologic. Bipolar spectrum patients usually show episodic dysphoric hypomania. Euphoric hypomania feels good and is sometimes productive, but dysphoric hypomania produces irritability, emotional discomfiture, impulsiveness, temper dyscontrol and impaired judgment. It tends to interfere with interpersonal relationships and to limit productivity at work. There is a sense of inner speeding combined with restless over activity and racing thoughts, which can lead to a state of desperation. The hypomania frequently alternates with episodes of depression, and mood instability is almost always present. Sometimes brief euphoric episodes are added to the mix. The triad of irritable episodes alternating with rage episodes and paranoid episodes is characteristic of dysphoric hypomania.

* Mixed states - mixed bipolar disorder [ the simultaneous occurrence of both depressive symptoms and mania/ hypomania ] and rapid cycling bipolar disorder [ the patient experiences frequent switches from depression to mania/ hypomania and back ] often produce diagnostic confusion for treaters and treatment resistance for patients. These mixed states are found in bipolar I, bipolar II and bipolar spectrum disorders. They are more common in women and are often associated with thyroid abnormalities, lack of response to lithium (the standard treatment for bipolar I disorder) and antidepressant-induced worsening of symptoms.
