How do you defeat mild depression??

I am a freshman this year. It's like the is something heavy on my shoulders and I can't shake it off. School just started today. I don't know why I feel this way. I have friends in every class. I got all the classes I wanted. I know my way around the school. The only bad thing is me and my best friend got separated. But I do have other friends with me. I just want to sit and cry. I was looking forward to school starting and now that it has I fell kinda depressed. HELP!!!!

When did your depression start? It could be because of all sorts of things. Probably because you're so used to summer, so it feels kinda weird and overwhelming to go back all of a sudden.
After Summer's finished and we've had a great time, it's natural for you to want to go back to school and see your friends.

But then you think about the Summer, the lazy days, the long nights, the laughs you had with your friends & it kinda brings you down for no apparant reason. I know how you feel.

The good news is, you get over it. You'll settle in school and start a whole new year and experience.

If you're worried it's something else, talk it through with someone you completley trust. Honestly, it helps.

Exercise for a little before and after school, hon. all of us go thru stuff like that, and surprisingly, exercise makes it better. You'll be fine... have a great year.

it always seems to happen that way doesn't it? the first week of school or so tends to be kinda depressing no matter if you have friends in classes or not. I remember my sophomore year (last year). I came home that night and just cried cause I felt so depressed even though there was nothing to be stressed over.
It usually doesn't last, but if it does..contact someone. Talk to a trusted adult about how you're feeling.
