Mental health q..?

Question:
About two months ago at a restaurant I was eating when some pancake didn't go down so well. I didn't choke, but it scared me so bad I had a panic attack.
Ever since then I get panic attacks. Especially while I'm eating something.

I have alot of stresses in my life, with being an at home mom of three. So I am depressed alot.

I think I also have PMDD bad. I get sad and very angry and go from crying to being fine. Or very mad, to feeling bad I acted that way a short time later.

I can't concentrate and I feel like I'm going crazy. I don't get out much by myself and my family drives me nuts. I know this is adding to my problem.

Once a month I want to divorce my husband... My moods are different and sometimes uncontrollable. I feel such rage yet depression. After my period starts I feel bad for everything I said or did. I just can't help it.
I thought I could get through it myself, but I think I need help. Should I resort to Zoloft?

Answers:
Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. Go and speak to your doctor about your situation - he might be able to help especially with the PMDD. The following steps will eliminate (or at least significantly reduce) your panic attacks:

1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks, OCD and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. You can get free downloads in you put "progressive muscle relaxation" into Google (e.g. lots of universities have them as free downloads)

With each step practise makes perfect. (i.e. practise the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope you feel better soon. Best of luck!

P.s. I have just seen a programme about how calcium levels relate to PMDD - it had a real affect. You could try upping your intake of milk and cheese and seeing if it makes a difference. Worth a go?
go see a doctor.and ur not alone, tons of people go anxiety and other confusions, just remember that its all in ur head and that ur husband loves u.
You should talk to a psychiatrist. I know that birth control and Abilify have helped with my PMDD.
as far as the panic attacks with eating. Eat slowly and chew properly pay attention to how u eat and u will forget about freaking out. The other stuff...see a doc. he will help. If u don't want to see a doc. Then I suggest managing your diet. Nothing but healthy foods. Then talk to a doctor or pharmist about taking a A-Z vitamin with an aditional L-Tyrosine dietary supp. It promotes good mood. Good luck
Maybe you need some time to yourself. You know time a couple times a week or so when you go out and do something a way from the Husband and Kids. Like Shopping for a new dress. Jogging in the Park. Like a Girls night out. Join a Club. I'd try that out 1st prior to trying medication.
