I was on Cymbalta, which is an SSNRI (in the same class as Effexor), and I actually lost a bit of weight and had an appetite decrease. That was helpful, as I'm already 50+ pounds overweight.
Theres plenty others, just ask your doctor. Tell them its made you gain 12 pounds.

I'm on Lexapro for generalized anxiety and I haven't gained any weight. I've been on it for about a month now and haven't noticed any changes. I go to my doctor every 2 weeks and I actually lost a pound last time I went. My doctor said its the most "weight neutral" SSRI out there. Its derived from Celexa and is more powerful with the least side effects.
I am a huge supporter of paxil...mainly because i'm on it, lol...i've been on it for about 10 years and it works fantastic, and i didnt gain any weight. I suggest you try it, (all meds take a while to kick in though) and hopefully it'll solve ur weight problem. Good luck!!
