Does personality disorder get worse as you get older?

Question:
what are the characteristics of the disorder I know there are many, what are the signs as you move into adult hood?

Answers:
I have been diagnosed with a paranoid personality disorder and have largely learned to live with it mostly without the use of meds. (I am 45 now and diagnosed this last twelve years) However "living with it " has meant for me, pretty much withdrawing from society ( doing my grocery shopping at 4 in the morning, most other shopping by mail order) avoiding public places and living in my own little bubble. Sadly on the occasions that my bubble has been burst I have ended back on medication and often been aggressive. So does it get worse? I think probably not we just find ways to get around things and possibly we do understand ourselves a little better.
As to what are the signs? personality disorders are extremely difficult to diagnose and many symptoms overlap with other types of mental health problems, also it would depend on the particular type of personality disorder. try this page on wiki for some interesting reading and useful links

hope this helps.
I know that bipolar can progress as you get older because I watched the progression of the disorder in my ex husband over a 12 year period. It just got gradually more severe every year. (He refused to get treatment to help himself).
Not knowing exactly the type of personality disorder you may be thinking about specifically makes it hard to pin-point, but there are many personality disorders that will often get better as we grow older and more comfortable with ourselves. There are some however that will get worse without treatment and if you have something serious you should seek a physician.
Yeah.
The more problems the worse it can get.
Absolutely! See a pyschiatrist a/s/a/p and don't be afraid to get second (or third) opinions. They are like boyfriends - one type doesn't fit all! Meds and talk therapy are the only things that help (and spirituality especially if you are spiritual) however it is usually a medical condition and best treated with meds first!!
Bipolar is not a personality disorder.

It is believed that some of the cluster B disorders including histronic and borderline get better as a person gets olders.
Studies are not sure if it is because of therapy or just changes in age.

Disorders like narcassitic does not change. And anti-social will not improve without therapy, BUT as an anti-social peron gets older, they may calm down due to age.
Saying they get worse might not be the right thing...as we age our habits become set and our behaviors often have bigger consequences. It might not be that the disorder itself is worse...it might be that the consequences for the behaviors are bigger and that makes things seem worse.
Most of the time adullts with a personality disorder had conduct disorder as a child and they've been doing what they do most of the their lives.
If for some reason psychosis sets in then things get nasty.
Since I'm not sure which disorder you are talking about that is about the best I can do.
One thing...the prognosis for most PD is bleak.
