How can I be supportive?

Question:
My uncle has been having mental breakdowns, we found out that he has been using drugs, he is suicidal, and he has moved back into his mother's house, away from his wife and kids...he has a 5 and a 10 year old, my cousins whom I love very much, and my aunt...I need to know how to be supportive to my cousins...please help!!

Answers:
Wow. That's a really hard situation, but good for you for caring about your family.

Make sure that your cousins know that they can talk to you. How old are you? Are you old enough that you can take your cousins out and spoil them a little bit? Trips to the park, ice cream, renting their favorite movies...? Take each one of them one-on-one so that if they feel like talking, they can. If they don't feel like talking, don't pressure them. Be there and be willing to talk. Just make sure they don't feel abandoned during this time.
don’t be negative, what ever you say always give them hope and tell them things will work out, don’t let them be ashamed about it either that’s the worst thing for a young kid to feel about there parent
what a mess you poor thing just be yourself and don't side with anyone against anyone .love from your heart not your head but keep your head about you .good luck
