Anxiety remedies?

Question:
I have been feeling slightly anxious recently. Its nothing serious I don't think.. I am taking my driving test soon and have just started a new job so I think thats to blame. Does anybody know of any medication or herbal stuff that relieves anxiety? I wouldn't sa I have attacks but I often get a bit panicked.

Answers:
Totally normal! Anxiety is caused by your mind and by changes in your life. When your body is doing something different then what it has done in the past it is prone to anxiety. I have suffered anxiety a lot and what always works for me is keeping Good Faith. Faith in myself and in God. Remember that it is mostly in your mind. If you are anxious one day, of course the next day you are going to wake up and say "oh no, I don't want to be anxious today". By saying that you are automatically setting the tone in your mind that you are going to be anxious. Wake up and tell yourself that "today is goin to be a better day". I think you'll be fine!
As far as natural remedies, I take B6 and B12 for it is good for your nervous system and your heart and circulation. Best wishes, your fine!
beta blockers

camomile
Keep away from chemicals. Your reaction is perfectly normal. Try deep breathing and rational thinking.
Kava kava has worked ok for me in the past. I think it may be illegal to buy in some states now though.
cut back on caffiene. excersize. do some yoga or relaxation techniques daily.
try calms forte.
hot bath before bed every nite. get good rest.
eliminate all caffeine from your diet.
i take lexapro for my anxiety. i break the 10mg pill in half. it works very well for me.
congratulations on your new job.
Just take a long walk by yourself to somewhere you love and stay there for a while and keep that memory in your head and when you feel anxious just remember it
If you don't want to take a prescription try other things like cutting out caffiene, and other stimulants that can make you worse. I suffer from anxiety disorder and have been on meds for years but I also need to do other things to help sometimes cause the meds aren't enough.
vitamin b12 suppliments help your nervous system. Be careful with herbal calming remedies because some actually keep you awake claiming to help you sleep better at night, you have to take them at specific times. Camomile products, herbal teas are good. Primrose oil capsules are definately good for any stress, anxiety or moodiness xxx
Fish Oil Concentrate1000MG they say can work like BP medication which is good for anxiety.

See your doctor.

Cut down the coffee. Try deep breathing. Xanax.
Hi. To get any medication for anxiety, you will need to see a doctor and have him/her prescribe something. I myself noticed my problem with anxiety several years ago, and found (like many others) that medicine really helps!

If getting on medication isn't an option for you, I think you'll need to consider some stress relief options. For me, writing lists is very helpful, writing a schedule for the next day helps too. I otherwise take a time out, and list 3 things in my head that are going really well.

Outside of that, there are LOTS of stress/anxiety reducers. I think if you search the web you'll find them. Good luck!
Caution if you consider herbal remedies.

Hepatitis associated with Kava, a herbal remedy for anxiety...

Kava, the rhizome of the pepper plant Piper methysticum, has been widely used in the South Pacific as a narcotic drink. Lactones, the major constituents of kava, are considered to be pharmacologically active and are sold in Europe and the United States as standardised extracts for anxiety and tension.

I know that I may be over-reacting, but I used to feel like yourself, think that the anxiety was manageable and it wasn't serious. I have now had to quit my job and can't drive or be by myself because the anxiety got so bad. I don't want to scare you, but it could be best to go and speak to someone (Dr, counsellor or psychologist) about it before it takes over your life.

Some natural remedies that are helpful include:
* Walking for one hour per day.
* Relaxation tapes
* Mediation
* Positive thinking
* Staying in the moment and trying not to think ahead into the future too much
* Rescue remedy is a good herbal solution to take whenever you feel a bit panicky.

Best of luck, I hope that you feel better soon :-) If you want to chat about it, drop me a line.

Every morning when you get ready to start your day have a minute or so in front of a mirror and take a good deep breath, look at yourself and smile, not just a cheesy grin but smile at yourself with your eyes. Tell yourself that this is how I will present myself to the world, a confident and happy human being. Say it several times to yourself, you'll be amazed at the results. Don't worry about the driving test, it is only a test and nothing more, if you fail, so what just take it again. Some things we can change other things we cannot so try not to place too much emphasis on non changeable situations and go more with the flow.
I'm sorry to answer a question with a question .. but what the hell is anxiety anyway??
I think it's like nervous isn't it?
if so i get that alot..
i've now started looking around a lot when near strangers but i always used to go up to strangers n talk to them so i've lost my special powers lol but oh well

I'm not gonna say good luck like other people that's lame

I'll say I hope your search finds you well.
You would be quite surprised, I think, to find out how many people could write the book on anxiety and feeling "off." It doesn't have to be full-blown anxiety, neither. It's just that feeling of being somewhat nervous and out of sorts and definitely not feeling like yourself. I helped to get my own anxiety under control by doing two things, essentially. The first was to limit the amount of caffeine I drank. I found that two cups a day was okay, but if I increased my caffeine quotient any further than that it began to give me the jitters - so watch your use of caffeine if you can. There is a direct connection between how much of it you have in your system and how your system is behaving as regards anxiety. The other thing to remember is when you are feeling that strange feeling of not feeling like your usual self and of being a little nervous - that you do not have to participate. You can detach or choose a different kind of response. This whole idea will take a few minutes to kick in, I know, but the whole idea behind this consciously choosing your moods helps you to get back your sense of control, the lack of which is what causes the anxiety. When we lose control of a situation or of ourselves, it can make us uneasy, and that can lead to the slightly anxious feeling. Remember that many people have this issue. It's called Life. We all go through it, so fortunately, you're not the only person who has to find ways to get it where you want it - finding natural boundaries over synthetic ones is admirable, but it is also a great blessing to know if this gets really silly or foolish there are medicines and drugs "out there" which will definitely help you nail it cold. What else? Mind on something else. I even got to the point where I would not allow myself to word it that way because it sounded upsetting to me. I would say "I am not feeling well right now" instead of "I'm feeling anxiety or anxious right now." If you feel jittery, a glass of water will help dilute things in about seven to ten minutes. Your body will grab onto that water and use it to slow everything down. If your nervousness or mild anxiety continues, you might ask your doctor if he would prescribe something you could take only as needed, something which definitely is not habit-forming. That way, you would have an ace in the hole and for those special times when this feeling wants to be relentless, you would have a battle plan that would stop it in its tracks. I hope some of this will help you, as I know the anxiety thing fairly well. What counts is what you find that works for you. Every time you have to unfortunately endure this kind of feeling, remember that it is adrenalin-related and will not last too long - fifteen minutes, often, because our bodies cannot sustain that kind of nervous upset for very long. The last thing is so obvious, but I will include it because you are doing it and it is the rightest thing of all: you are talking about it. You are not keeping it all bottled up inside yourself where it will drive you bonkers. Call someone, a dear friend, e-mail someone like me, or anyone else here on YouQA.com s who is there for you, and we will either help to talk you down, or get your mind so totally on something else your nervous system will forget what it was trying to do to you. Please take care, and know you have a whole lot of company. Find the people in your orbit who are supportive of you and who will be there for you for the few times when you just need to talk with another sane human being when you "are not yourself." You will soon find various ways to reclaim your life again so it does not fly off on its own without your permission.
