Do colours affect your mood?
Question:
Answer:
yes colour does affect your mood.
when i moved into my flat the sitting room was already painted a teracotta orange colour and people didnt want to stay in that room too long. i didnt like spending alot of time in their either.
i painted the room a light green colour and now people stay for ages and we always end up having a laugh and i can watch tv for hours.
apparently there is too much black and blue in the western world and that is why so many people are depressed.
Black pleases me!
You know, that could be it. You know, when you are reading a depressing book, you start to get a little irritable or depresed, the colors might be kind of like that.
thats not so crazy...i never thought of that.
Pink i love anything pink
The color yellow makes me angry so maybe it affects different people different ways............But I cannot stand the color yellow!!!
i dont think it affects your mood, i think it reflects your mood
I have to wear all black to work and it does get kind of depressing. so, I started wearing a different colorful fresh flower in my ponytail everyday. It actually kinda made me feel more lively.
there has been alot of research on how colors affect people's moods.and the facts show that softer pastel colors are more soothing.alot of business have pastel colors in their offices .the best color they say is light pink.
Well, yes. According to eastern philosophy, colors effect the energy in your body. In fact, red produces anger and hostile energy. Green and yellow produce calming energy.
The energy florws throughout your system following a pathway called meridians. Everything affects the energy: colors, food you eat, things you drink, etc.
When enerygy gets blocked you get sick. Hence, why some people use actupressure to get better, it relieves built up energy.
I like nice pastel shades. Yes i would say colour can affect your mood for sure.
Blue really makes me Calm :-)

Yes, a lot of psycholoical studies have been done on the effect of color on mood and psychological state. Red does tend to be a passionate color, not necessarily angry, however. It can tend to move whatever passions are near the surface. Of similar interest: They used to paint institutions and schools a pea-green color. This was because that color was determined to be the most calming. Also, pink is debilitating to men. They experimented with putting pink into jail cells where very aggressive sociopaths were incarcerated. This tended to take the wind out of them... Put a blue card in front of a weight lifter's face when lifting weights at their limit of strength, and they will lift easier. Put a pink card in front of their face, and they have difficulty lifting...
There is some truth to what you are feeling. Most prisons, jails, hospitals and similar type facilities use color schemes that are light shades, pastels, whites and off whites because they are all considered soothing or neutral. On a similar note the U.S. Navy limits the amount of red that can be used on the inside of ships because it has a tendency to make people feel angry or passionate neither of which are good at sea. So yes colors, especially a lot of one color can elicit feelings. white is considered neutral red=anger/passion black/gray=depressing light blue and pale yellow are considered soothing but not everyone is effected the same by a color blue is very pleasing to me but someone else may find it makes them sad.
YES! They do! :) No men with white coats for you. There is actually such a thing as 'color psychology' There's also on a myth busters where someone said McDonalds used the colors Red and Yellow for their seat plan to get people in and out fast since they were disturbing colors and it turned out to be True they actually hired someone to come up witha color scheme that would keep people rotating in and out their doors
(My bathroom is Maroon and it's so dark and depressing)

Red is the color that we pay the most attention to. It is the warmest and most energic color in the spectrum.
We associate red with love, valentines, danger, desire, speed, strength, violence, anger, emergency exit signs, stop signs and blood.
Red can evoke a fight-or-flight response, raise blood pressure and make the heart beat faster.
Red would not be the color of choice for psychiatric wards, prisons or a hospital.
In China red symbolizes celebration and luck, used in many cultural ceremonies that range from funerals to weddings.
In India red is the color of purity (used in wedding outfits).

Red
The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are popular targets for thieves. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent. Decorators say that red furniture should be perfect since it will attract attention.
The most romantic color, pink, is more tranquilizing. Sports teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so their opponents will lose energy.
of course it can, but it affects different people in different ways. I love reds and purples, they are the colours of warmth and passion to me. Yellow makes me feel ill, sickly. Green can be restful and calming or nausiating depending on the hue. Black is often thought to be depressing but for me its dramatic, grey is depressing and beige makes me feel tired and washed out!
that is interesting, has put me off using red paint,i thought it would make the room cosy.
i think lavender is a relaxing colour.
I love yellow; they say it releases endorphins just looking at it.
red is a very energizing color--so it could be activating a lot of anger you have inside of you--I would say that you should journal about your anger--yes--the red house is bringing it out--I agree there--colors do influence mood--but it is only bringing out what you have inside of you--some people might feel more passionate or romantic in a red house--you are feeling angry...
Also--it could be more than the color of the house--you may be picking up on other vibes you are getting...maybe what you are doing there or the people there--their energies are also affecting your angry feelings..again--journal about it and see..
no it's been studied red makes people angrier.
it's been proven that red is the colour of madness and anger, black is the colour of depression and blue is the colour of calmness (red can also be an aphrodisiac if not too bright) so yes colour can seriously affect our mood.
