Is rest/sleep due to the fact that your body is tired, because your mind is tired or both?

Please explain with detail.

What do you nickname a severe fearfulness of santa?

Answer:
research shows that physical exertion does not affect the amount of sleep required, however sleep is theorised to consolidate memories acquired during the day, and form new links in the brain. lack of sleep has been associated with decreased mental abilities such as problem solving etc.

the type of sleep is also worth considering; REM sleep (the state you're in while dreaming) seems to be the important in mental function (good for creativity too!) but it can be removed with no long term effects. all in all, its a tough one and no1 really knows the answer, but we do know its essential and without it there is evidence suggesting we'd die!

How do i find what im suitable at?

it can be because of both or because you are depressed. when i was at my worst in depression i could sleep 22 out of 24 hours it was a way of escaping the real world, a way for the body to cope.

I feel like I need to see someone to talk to about my feelings?

During sleep, both your body and your mind recharge. Your body actually rebuilds and repairs itself during the REM cycle. Those who have difficulty sleeping well might find that their body begins to have more aches and pains and more such problems because it cannot rebuild sufficiently. Your mind uses the time to sift through events of the day and reorganize those events in your mind. It is a type of recharging of your mind as well.

is it normal that people that are in depression are just not understood?

Sleep/rest is necessary for both your brain and your body. There's much research out there, I've listed one source for more details.

From what I know, when the brain gets overwhelmed it wants to shut down/sleep for awhile. When I read for too long I get drowsy and fall asleep on top of my books. Others have told me about backpacking during a sudden lightening storm and as soon as they set up shelter they immediately fell asleep. I'm assuming that's the body and brain's way of recuperating.

There's also the sympathetic and parasympathetic parts of the autonomic nervous system. The sympathetic system operates when you are stressed: fight or flight. The parasympathetic system helps you recover from those stressful periods. Its the parasympathetic system that wants you to sleep so it can repair the body and stock up more fuel (digestion) for your next adventure.
