Whats Wrong With Me?

Question:
Depression runs in the family but i feel like its more than that.

I dont feel depressed all the time, but every once and a while i get so down and i do think of death and suicide but i would never actually do it. I am also a really relaxed, chill and laid back person in general but sometimes i can just get really angry and wanna hit things and i just wanna go crazy. And the people that know me always tell me that they could never picture me being mad because i am so laid back. I feel like i may be depressed but this whole anger thing kinda throws me off. Like i just wanna scream sometimes, it will come out of the blue too, like when im just doing something random and simple like shopping. What could be my problem?

Answers:
Depression often comes with agitated phases. I would talk to a professional and see what they say. There's no reason to suffer needlessly when there are so many good treatments available.
Possible bipolar disorder

but i go through the same thing as well (basically exactly: family, but I'm more uptight)

definitely a possible bipolar, or it could be just some anxiety
Well, what's going on in your life right now? Try to focus on things that make you happy when you have feelings that make you feel down. What makes you smile? Focus on that. Or just smile, period, you'll feel better/

Perhaps, you're just hormonal.
If I had to guess, I would say you're bottling up your rage. Find a way to vent or express it. You could write a poem or kick the crap out of a heavy bag at the gym. Whatever lets you vent.
well, the first question i have is how old r u? hormones and chemicals in our body can shift our emotions quickly. both men and women, when they are between 12 and 25, are subject to rapid chemical changes in our bodies. it's normal.

u might have a mild depression that these chemicals occasionally make stronger. see a psychologist if it becomes an issue, but here's what you can do:

when you feel those rash emotions, lay down, listen to music, and DONT THINK ABOUT ANYTHING! just let your mind and body relax for a while.

i'm not a doctor, but i hope tht can help a bit.
Hi lexi2232

First congratulations on maintaining a laid back approach day to day, its hard sometimes isn't it?

Secondly, nothing is WRONG, with you...

This anger thing, just think for a moment of the level of intensity your depressive moods have.

That same level of intensity has to exist in the balancing other "direction" for it to exist in the first place.

It is therefore normal for you to feel this strength of anger, even if you can't understand what has triggered it off sometimes.
The fact is, it is "in there".

Knowing that needs you to respect your structure then and make sure you cater to maintaining its subtle needs.

The same energy that currently wants to take charge can be directed into a deliberate intense activity, like a sport or full on hobby. This relieves the "pressure" in a positive manner simply because you do it by being proactive rather than feeling at the beck and call of this anger and thus reactive.
there are 2 kinds of deppression. a deppression which you would always be deppressed and sad .. and the other is changing in mood sometimes sooo happy and sometimes sooo sad. the 2nd deppression is more dangerous and i guess you have it ,and i used to be like you .you need something which would take your saddness away
