Addictions?

Question:
I've kind of been addicted to marijuana for about four years. The first year it was like once a week, the second year it was about three times a day, the third year it was about once a day, now it's like once a week again. I'm tryin to stop but it's hard. I'm not a dumb person losing out on life. I graduated Magna *** Laude from college with a Business Finance degree w/ 3.768 GPA. But like my best friend is heavily into smoking pot and he's a musician (it seems musicians are big on the drugs). But if I want to excel further in life, this needs to end. Ugh, I would hate to have to go to counseling. Anyone been able to kick the habit on their own?

Answers:
I smoked pot for years, mainly almost everyday. Mostly I only smoked with my husband and friends. One day I realized I really did not like it I was just smoking because they were. Once I made this discovery I quit, I can't say it was easy and there was a lot of pressure from them to smoke with them. But I kept to my guns, haven't smoked in many many years. Try to find your reason for smoking. Are you stressed, do you just like it, does it make you feel good, silly, paranoid??
Once you find the reason then you can quit. Good Luck
if you have insurance you could go into treatment.
yes, well, this worked for me. whenever you get high dont let yourself think "aaahhhh" (ya know that relaxed stable feeling) instead, convince yourself you dont like being high. it can be a little hard at first but it really worked for me. i had to quit for reasons similar to yours and after a while i really believed i didnt like getting high anymore, like it was well and good for those years of my life - BUT like maybe it just wasnt for me anymore .
idk, i hope that might help you.
i think that if you can't quite then go to counseling but you should try if you do it once a week go to once a month but if it was me i would try try try to stop because i wouldn't want to go to counseling so do it once a month or you can do better and not do it at all
