Why do I have to live like this?

Question:
I am not really living at all. It is a kind of a living death.

There are several key things:

My social anxiety disorder (SAD) makes it virtually impossible for me to date, have sex or much of anything else for that matter. According to my research, I also suffer from Body Dysmporphic disorder (BDD), since I am extremely insecure about my attractiveness; I hate and avoid mirrors. Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) makes it possible for me to worry 24 hours a day about anything and everything untl the end of the days. Naturally, I am very depressed.

I know I shouldn't feel the way I do, but it is so deeply ingrained in me, there is no separating me from it. Oh, I do have one talent by and large I am able to hide it. Even when I tell someone, they can't grasp it. If they had to live even one day in my shell, they would end their misery.

Answers:
Are you qualified to make this diagnosis of these serious psychological disorders? There are real dangers for people trying to SELF DIAGNOSE. If you have concerns about your mental health or ability to cope then see a professional who can give you a proper assessment and start you on a therapy regime.

Looking something up on the internet does not qualify as a diagnosis.

I URGE ANYONE WITH MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS TO SEE A PROFESSIONAL AND SEEK HELP.
you should definately be medicated, and also, you probably don't have BDD. it sounds like you are just insecure.
Sounds like you are a mental health hypochondriac with way to much time on his hands and way too much information from the internet and not enough common sense to know you shouldn't be self-diagnosing. Back away from the computer and start interacting with people face-to-face.
you dont have to live this way get help as soon and as fast as you can, you have a serious issue(s) that needs treatment if you hold out on it any longer it could get worst, so my advice to you would be talk talk talk to someone (therapist, family, freinds) anyone you feel could help. even if it doesnt feel right, you can only be helped if you tell someone get alot of excersise and fun activities get out the house alot, participate in things you like to do. swimming really helps, and drinking warm milk before bed, and if your lactose and tolerant, or dont like milk, try chai tea, it is relaxing, and helps get rid of all the stress, have self esteem in yourself. and alot of socialization.
Good Luck
you need to talk to your family about it. tlaking about it should instantly make you feel a little better about yourself. hopefully, since they are your family and they know you best, they can come up with ways to help you.
if that doesnt work you should go to a psychiatrist or something who can probably give you medication so you won't feel so anxious, nervous and depressed.
With help from your doctor or mental health you can overcome your anxiety. My sister had the same problem and she is fine now that she has been diagnosed and prescribed the right medication.
If you need to talk to someone you can e-mail me and i will gladly help you!
Hey, I think a lot more people than you think feel like that from time to time. But not all the time, and in that respect, I think only talking to someone who is truly honest with you about it will help. Medicine only covers the problem, it doesn't deal with it. You can always talk to me. When you feel that way, it has to be difficult to really listen to what other people are saying to you when you believe that your perception of yourself is right.
I don't know how you look or are, but I know you can't be so deep into the hole when you are asking for answers.
Maybe no one will be able to truly understand where you're coming from, but at least you know that people actually do care what happens to you. It's hard to open up and receive feedback when the person doesn't get it, but the more you can open up to someone you feel comfortable, the more they will be able to understand, and might be able to take the edge off a little.
Zardoz...you don't say whether or not you are getting any treatment. I always find it so sad to see someone suffering the way you are when there is help available. Based on your symptoms it is very understandable why you would be feeling depressed. Anxiety is a pernicious disease that sucks the life out of even the strongest of us. Eventually it leads to severe depression as we feel trapped by it and see no way out. It also can lead to other symptoms such as BDD as our self esteem erodes away. Please let me know what kind of treatment you are now getting or have gotten in the past. best wishes
