Which is the worse" Bipolar l or ll?
Question:
Answers:
Bipolar I is more severe, which some would say makes it worse. The depressions are deeper; the manias are more extreme and potentially dangerous. Bipolar II can be harder to diagnose and treat because it's harder to recognize as bipolar. There is more often depression with only short periods of hypomania, which consists of the same symptoms as mania, but without it interfering with life.
Bipolar I

It's just what it is.. psychiatric basis points are done on the basis of what a "normal" person would be like.. people have emotions.

"Worse" is a tough call.
Bipolar II isn't as, um... let's say "dramatic".
Bipolar disorder is commonly categorized as either Bipolar Type I, where an individual experiences full-blown mania, or Bipolar Type II, in which the hypomanic "highs" do not go to the extremes of mania.
They are both bad I'm not really sure about 1. I was diagnosed with Bi polar 2 and they have explained to me that it is a very difficult thing to treat. I just know that the II when you have a very manic episode leads to a very very low point that I asume is more severe then the I.
Bipolar I is POTENTIALLY far worse in my opinion, though each person's experience is different and people who have controlled Bipolar I may have a much better time than people with less well controlled Bipolar II, for example.
According to official diagnosis guidlines (known as the DSM-IV), bipolar II disorder is "characterized by one or more Major Depressive Episodes accompanied by at least one Hypomanic Episode." The key difference between bipolar I and bipolar II is that bipolar II has hypomanic but not manic episodes, and hypomanic episodes are not as severe as traditionally manic ones.
Another key criteria has to do with psychosis: Bipolar I disorder may experience additional psychotic symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations, while Bipolar II--by definition--has no psychotic features.
Thus since Bipolar I has more severe mood swings, marked by the extreme mania and can include psychotic symptoms (which Bipolar II NEVER does), I think the potential for the disorder to be both more dramatic and more detrimental to the day to day life of the person suffering from is worse for people who are Bipolar I as opposed to Bipolar II.
neither is any better or worse than the other. you still have mood changes , whther they be quickly or or wether they be long la sting and slow to change, they still suck. Its all how you are affected and how you are being treated. if you take your meds, do the therapy, and embrace it, then it doesnt matter how bad it is, only that you are able to overcom it.
well usually bipolar 1 includes mania and psychosis. Bipolar 2 includes hypomania with no psychosis
