Everytime i go to the gym...?

Question:
i feel like everybody is looking at me. what's that called? i get shy and that makes me not want to work out. what should i do? i am comfortable working out w/ my trainer though, just not alone.

Answers:
I feel that way whenever I go jogging/gym too! They stare maybe since they never see you around there, and maybe they think you're hot!

Go with a friend or someone. You can talk to her/him and ignore everyone else is really there.

If you can't bring a friend then bring your ipod or something. That'll make you forget anyone is starring (if they are).
Haha... Yeah... Pretty much the symptoms of stagefright.

This is totally normal by the way... Happened to me for months before I gained the confidence to really excel there.
dont worry about it. maybe its just in your head. people go there to work out is all
ignore them or stare back. i would stare back if they stare for more than 5 secs.
it's called you probably look good
I was the same way when I first started to go to the gym.

It's called normal.

Take comfort in the fact that most people feel that way. Most of the ones who don't are either super built or super narcissitic...

You just have to learn to be comfortable with yourself.. and realize that everyone else is too busy worrying about who's looking to care...

I have found that working out is easier if I either take a friend.. or just put my ipod on, then I get involved in that and less involved with who might be watching me.
Lots of people feel that way. It could be called paranoia, or anxiety.

Most people are worried about how they look themselves, not how you look...especially if you look somewhat normal. Best advice... ignore the feeling, put some headphones on and workout.
It is only because you are "new". Relax..you will feel comfortable in no time! This happened to me also.
your being self concious

thats fine but its probally because you dont like people looking at your body or your shy.
its completely normal.
but realax
there isnt anything to worry about !
All you can do is ignore it.

Dont feel nervous at the gym. There are probably tons of people there that are in the same shape and condition that you are in. You arent the only one.
No worries hon!
I feel that too! What the heck? let them stare you may just be too beautiful!! I hope that helped and let them stare! It don't matter. Give them a workout they never saw b4!
i find that most people at the gym are looking at everyone else. it is just part of being a person. i think it is awkward to have so many people in one place with so little interaction between one another.

from the sounds of it you need a distraction. when you workout alone are you listening to an mp3 player? i find listening to my own music helps me focus on myself and not everyone around me. if that doesn't work, try making friends with some you frequently see at the gym and ask them if they would like to be your workout partner.
that's social anxiety - when your trainer is there, you can focus on him/her without the distractions

i have it too
A lot of people are self conscience at the gym when they first start going. They think everyone is watching them, but everyone is very wrapped up in what they themselves are doing. People that go to the gym all the time get used to new people coming and going all the time and they don't pay attention to them.
