Bipolar, means 2 poles, at one end of the pole is depression at the other end is manic behavior. You can have one Depression and not the other Manic behavior or you can have both behaviors. Sometimes you are depressed and other times extremely bizarre behavior that is hard to control as the manic side. Alot of times hospitalization is needed for manic episodes. Drug use goes along with bipolar, not always, but in alot of cases. This makes it extremely difficult to tell if the person is reacting from drugs or is truly bipolar. If you think you are bipolar, go see a doctor and tell them how you feel. They have alot of medicine that helps lead a normal life. My son has had several manic episodes that were extremely difficult and really has not found the medicine that he can live with at this point.. It is a trial and error approach until you do find it. The most important thing is not to fool yourself into thinking you do not need to take your medicine. That is usually when an episode will occur after a while of being off the meds.
I am bi-polar or manic-dpressive.
There are huge swings in mood and thought patterns with it.
You will be WAY UP and then WAY DOWN.
It tends to run in cycles and can take varying amounts of time.Usually, after things start getting bad,the time involved will be a few weeks.
That is you can up for 2 weeks and then down for 4 weeks.Or vice versa.
It is deadly and it nearly killed me.If you have it,get treated.
In the severe stages,it feels like you are being torn apart.
I began to cycle in out more and more rapidly, until I was all over the place.

I'm not bipolar but I've met one or two who were.

Aside from the mood swings, they all seemed to have an extreme habit. One was a total spendthrift who couldn't save a button, another was exactly the opposite, a total miser who wouldn't spend a penny if he could help it.

Both would get obsessional about certain things. I worked in a laboratory with one and he had a hatred of dripping taps, one would drive him into a frenzy. The other would often talk loudly in public places and embarass anyone with him.
