I am confused and scared, of this inpatient hospital situation! Please Read!?

Question:
if you didn't read my previous question-
last night my parents admitted me to some treatment center in austin,. for a minimum of 7 wks. i feel sick I miss my family, and am still, suicidal and hallucinating. I told my doctor, right after i posted, he stared at me in dead silence for about a few seconds, well i think he thnks i am crazy. and we had a horrible talk. he told me that it was his responsibility to ensure my safety, and others, He asked me if i felt like hurting myself, and for some reason, i started crying( what a bad time), so after that i didn't talk much to him, i think he is a little mad at me for not talking, i would talk but i dont trust anyone right now in the hospital. and just dont feel like talking that much( suprisingly i dont mind typing) i have been crying all morning, is hallucinating and destructive episodes considered an out of control situation, and would i be restrained?
Sorry veryfirst time, i am really curious and clueless

Think of it this way - it's supposed to suck! If you liked it there - what would be the point of getting out?

I baker acted myself a few years back. I was scared & missing home. Those feeling are the ones that drove me to do what they wanted so I could go home. Which in turn, made me realize that the hospital wasn't a solution for me - it was like a "time out" from the outside world. Now, if the depression gets bad, I realize it isn't an option for me to go back there - so I better get help on the outside.

You HAVE to be honest with these people - otherwise they can't help you. This is YOUR chance to be honest & get all the help you can! This is YOUR time!

I'm happy to see that you didn't want to be late for group - that's the RIGHT attitude! Hang in there & if there is anything that can be gained from being in there - FIND IT & TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!

The suicidal thoughts. . .remember your parents that drove you all the way there? Imagine them having to clean out your room & decide what to do with all of your things. Meanwhile they are sick to their stomachs & want to die themselves. . .can you really be the one to do that to them? You are the world to them & other people - don't do that to them! You can make it - just KEEP FIGHTING!

I heard this Is a Place for support hon, if your interested.
i have never heard of a mental health center that lets you be on a computer. usually all communication is stopped unless they are known and on certain days. what kind of place are you at that gives you so much freedom. Sounds like it might be a nice place. give it a chance.
Just let the doc do their jobs...it will be worth it I PROMISE...just think, no more hallucinating, suicidal thoughts, you will be fine!!
They are there to help you. So follow the rules, which I am sure are well known to you. (Are you allowed online?)

The doctor doesn't think you are crazy because you have a BRAIN CHEMICAL IMBALANCE. It's a physical condition that makes you confused. That's not your fault! And I doubt he is mad at you for not talking when you aren't ready. You just got there, so it's okay to not feel trusting yet!

Ask them what could happen that could cause you to be restrained, okay? Then you'll know. Restaint is avoided as much a possible.

My son, 15, is bipolar and he had to go to the hospital twice. He used to hallucinate last summer, too. But now he is on the right meds and having a great summer!

Follow the rules and do what they ask so you can get well as fast as possible. And get then you can get the heck out! But first you have to learn how to manage your illness, and get on the right medicine.

{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}} to you from Nate's Mom.
Do you want to be helped?

If you do then talk and talk and talk.
You have nothing to lose.
It is all private and confidential.

You have to help yourself.
It is your mind and they can not read it.
You have to tell them what is going on in it.

And ask a lot of questions too.
Like what is your time line to fix this problem.
What is your plan.
How do you fix this kind of problem.
What psychological tools and techniques do you use.

When you leave there you should know enough to not need their help ever again.
You should be able to be your own therapist.

If you go with the idea that you want them to help you then 7 weeks will fly by.

If you can accept your situation, you will feel reality and relief.
Assuming your situation is for real I will answer you. If you are truly suicidal and hallucinating then you NEED treatment. There is NO question about this. THIS IS NOT punishment but protection. You need protection from yourself and others need protection from you. Not that you mean anyone harm but you are clearly not in control. This is reality and you need to hear it. You sound as if you have some insight into your problem that is, you realize to some degree what is happening. People in your situation are impulsive, not bound by control.
Something BAD could happen if you did not allow the help. I doubt you want this. Psychiatric hospitals can be very scary. You are surrounded by other people who are very, very sick. You need to know you are not a bad person. You need to know and to say repeatedly to yourself that you are not being punished because you are bad. You have a problem, an illness that is treatable.
This is not hopeless and you have not been abandoned. You doctor does not think less of you because you cry. Go easy on yourself. Focus on getting well. Try to trust the staff to help. Feeling suicidal and hallucinating is not normal. You do not and cannot live this way.
Restraints are ONLY used to protect yourself from imminent harm from yourself that is, if you suddenly start to bang your head or otherwise try to physically hurt yourself.
Good luck. You can and will get well if you let yourself. Remember, you have choice. Choose wisely.
He wants to help you, yes, but he of all people should understand that you need to take your time. As long as someone keeps an eye on you to make sure you *don't* hurt yourself, they shouldn't need to restrain you. I'm sure the hospitals try their best to preserve people's autonomy and rights. Even if he did think you might be psychotic (detached from reality), that does not change your rights.

Make sure you tell them that you're really scared and don't know anybody. Be open to talking to them, but take your time, too. If you rush it, you'll only feel worse, as you're finding out. It's important to deal with things one at a time when you're feeling overwhelmed.

The reason you're suddenly crying so much and having so many or more acute destructive periods is because you're so scared. Once they understand your position, they'll know how to respond.

Just know that you're not wrong to be scared or to want to take your time. If your parents sent you there for so long, it's so that they can take that whole amount of time to help you. Their responsibility is to help you. You need to tell them how they can help you, and that's to slow down.
Hmmmm.I am not believing this.

I have been in many hospitals and treatment centers and not one had a computer. Let alone, give patients access to the internet.

Many don't even have a DVD player or VCR for movies.

I think this is a hoax.
