Lexapro question?

Question:
I've been taking lexapro for about 4 months now, and i really like it. But for the past week or so, every time I take it, I get drowsy, and sleepy. Anybody have any of these symptoms after 4 months or longer of treatment?

Answers:
When do take the drug? In the morning? If you do, try taking it at night. I was on Lexapro for a while and had the same problem (sleepiness) if I took it in the morning. My doctor told me to switch to taking it before bedtime, and the sleepiness was far less of a problem.

And for your side effects starting now (after 4 months) - it COULD be that you're getting too much - but maybe not. You might want to talk to your doctor. With some drugs, it's not unusual to have side effects to being occurring after a period of time, and this could be the case here. The doctor may want to try alternating a 10mg with 20mg every other day to see if you still experience the problem.

Good luck.
THis was REALLY bad for me two, but only for the first two weeks. Now Im fine.

Was you dosage increased recently? That could have done it
i havn't really ever noticed being really sleepy on it sorry I couldn't be more help
I have been taking Lexapro for a couple of years now and did experience the drowsy/sleep problem you are. My sleepiness kept me from doing a lot of things and I told my doctor. I was then prescribed an additional drug, Provigil. This may not be right for you, but there should be something to help. Lexapro works great for me except for the sleepiness and the Provigil has taken care of all that.
