Defferance betweet Ativan and klonopin?

Question:
I was just put on Klonopin for extreme anxiety. Dr said that if I didnt like it we would try Ativan.

Klonopin doesnt seem to be doing much. Is Ativan stronger, better , should I switch?

Answers:
Ativan is quicker acting but doesn't last as long, if you are taking it for anxiety I would probably recommend Ativan. however, Klonopin lasts longer and has a longer onset of action, it is also used for seizures and you may have seizures if you discontinue use ubruptly, this can happen with all benzos though.
Medications work differently with different people.

I don't know about Klonopin, but ativan is addictive, so you have to be very careful with it. I keep track of when and how many I take. It works very well, but I try not to take it more than once a week.
Interesting that they put you on klonopin first instead of ativan, or even xanax. I've been on ativan and xanax, and ativan is a milder form of xanax, and supposedly less addictive. Compared to xanax (which knocks me out flat) ativan is milder, and it makes you less...slow, if that is the right word for it. there mustbe a reason why he put you on the klonopin first, so try it out and see if it works. Hope this helps.
