TALK TO YOU DOCTOR, HE MAY HAVE TO INCREASE YOUR MEDICATION OR CHANGE IT TO A DIFFERENT ONE. IT IS OBVIOUS YOUR MEDICATION IS NOT HOLDING YOU
It probably means your medications need to be tweaked. Periods of normality are common in bipolar, but they can easily turn into an extreme high or low. That's why it's important to stay on your medication even when you feel like you're better.
Perhaps you aren't taking the right med for you! I have anxiety/depression, and I kept trying different meds (me, the human guinea pig!) until I found one that worked for me. Sometimes dr.'s get all panty-bunched about it, but it's my well being wer'e talkin' about here!! And if this med aint doin' it's job anywhere down the line, I'm changin' again! Also, a med sometimes takes weeks to reach it's full gusto. I actually notice mine really helping even more months later! Another thing...life has it's ebb and flow, ups and downs. I was so used to the "I feel so great, so pretty soon the downer mode must be nearby!" We also have to change in our minds the feelings we have been accustomed to. And when I start feeling down, I'm thinkin',"Here we go again. Dark days ahead!" And subconsciously, we put ourselves in a vulnerable position to be depressed! Kinda like being shell-shocked. We are not in a war being shot at, but we still flinch and run for cover! I (we) have to rewire our thinking within, beside with the meds. It takes time to learn and realize. Last week my dog died and I could feel the depression cloud over me badly. I tried to fight it, but it still creeped in. Then I got anxious. THEN, I realized, yes, I am depressed, my sweet ole dog and companion DIED! I had to let myself be sad!
Talk to your doc. Sometimes psych. meds take longer to work especially when we think we are feeling better. Manic/depressive disorder is what it used to be called. You may have had more than 2 manic phases. Ask the doc to explain what to expect and how long it will take to achieve your goal.
