Would it piss you off to have to pay for psychiatric counseling, & receive poor advice?

Question:
Like if you paid for a counseling session, & the counselor blamed you for all your problems & made it like you were the cause & didn't tell you how to cope with your problems?

That has happened to me before, & I felt ripped off. Well I guess I should consider the source since she was a counselor "in training". I have a counseling session today that I have to pay for, & I'm afraid to go because of that.

My son had trouble adjusting to a move and new school so we went to see someone - it was a big waste of time -
the man had the worst office and played games with my son and then didn't know how to do his billing I spend countless hours fixing his errors - and then he fell asleep - ate this huge sandwich - (made us wait) and then called us in 20 minutes in he dozed - and my son and I just laughed. I said "good thing you aren't suicidal and we're boring people'
I refused to pay my co-pay which amounted to over $200
he sent me to collections I said to him take me out or I call the board - and report you - he backed off.
What a waste. I know not all people are like this but good luck.
I would be annoyed if that happened to me.Can you not get it free? I don't know where u live but in the UK everything like thats free.

Next time you go explain how you feel, she might change the way she councils you a bit,it might help you better and make it worth the money.

Good Luck !
It is you they are talking about.

You must help yourself.

They can not go into your head and mind.
You have to discover all the beautiful things that are there all by yourself.
There is no blame. Only an offer to help if you choose to be helped.

Yes, that would infuriate me too. If you truly feel that the counseling you're receiving is unsatisfactory, I would speak to your parents (if you still live at home with them) regarding this, to see if they would agree to your seeking counseling services somewhere else. If you're grown, you can make that decision on your own, which I would recommend. I would just discontinue going (unless you're required to go there for some reason) & look for help elsewhere.
So, THAT is where your discussion needs to begin. You'll want to discuss what to expect from a counselor and what the counselor expects of the client.

Please take note that even though this was a "counselor in training", there are a number of techniques people use to motivate or cause a person to want to make some changes in their life. The method that was used, did get your attention, but it did not motivate a positive response.
you should probably find someone else. There is not point in counseling if you are not getting anything from it.
Oh my gosh YES! This pisses me off the most. Once I moved to a new state and I tried to find a pyschiatrist. I met with one and she told me that "I should go off all my medications and meditate."
I am Bipolar and need those meds to keep me stable.

Then I had to pay the ***** $200.

Some people in the mental health field are sooooo screwed up.
well some are good and some are bad and it seems you may have got one of the bad ones. I tell you one thing for sure I would not pay for someone that was in training, I mean what are you paying for them to learn? try going to see someone else.
