Do all ppl with multiple personalities lose time?

Question:

Answers:
Usually yes, at least at the beginning of the disorder. Amnesia, or time loss, between alters is the hallmark feature of the disorder. People may become aware of the existence of other alters by experiencing voices inside their head which represent a form of internal communication and later, especially with therapy, co-consciousness develops among alters. Co-consciousness occurs when one alter is able to stay present while another part is present as well. Often it is as though one alter is watching or observing another part's behavior. As co-concsiousness develops, time loss decreases although the ability to remain co-conscious does not necessarily mean that a particular alter will choose to remain present while another part is "out" and there is often great resistance to maintaining co-consciousness. The desire to dissociate is very powerful and people with the disorder struggle to remain co-conscious which usually takes effort-dissociation has become the preferred or default way of coping.
