Anybody on here ever gone through the discharge of student loans?

Question:

I haven't been able to work since 1996, and I just got around to getting my doctor to sign off a permanent disability because I'm nutso. I'm wondering if anyone has gone through the process due to mental health problems and how long it took. How much crap did you have to go through in either getting it or not getting it?

I was dismissed from paying my student loan from Direct Loans because I'm pregnant and not working due to my high risk pregnancy. I'm also going back to college in Spring so that's why they aren't charging me anything.

Federal student loans are almost impossible to discharge, specially if they have gone into default. You will not get a permanent disability of the bat, even if doctor has signed the form, probably will get a temporary disability, temporary just puts a hold on your payments until they do a review of your case and follow-up of medical (mental) condition.
