Do you ever get in the mood where you know that you are going to just keep on drinking, no matter what?

Oh, yes, I remember that one all too well. That was a little over twenty years ago in 1987 when I was a raging alcoholic. Then I quit. I have regained my health, my mind, my balance and my connection to society. If I drank just two beers it was over with. It was always good for as long as I could handle it which was usually about eight hours at a stretch. Pretty dumb, not to mention dangerous. Now I am 64 and back in my right mind. No more Dr. Jeckell and Mr. Hyde. No more roller coaster. No more merry-go-round. No more not really getting high any more and then not fully drying out the next day and being trapped feeling crazy in between the two states of drunk out of my skull and half-sober. No more night sweats. No more hangovers. No more apologies. No more lying. No more double six-packs hidden in the cellar. No more falling off your bicycle at 1:30 A.M. on a beer run and flying over the handlebars and knocking out all your front teeth in the dark on the pavement at 10 miles per hour... I must have slid about fifty long terrible painful bloody feet that way on my face. It was not pretty. All those teeth were LIVE teeth, too. That was a night to remember... I had to walk home about a mile or so and when I rang our front door bell my life partner of 47 years now came to the front door to answer it. He opened the door and ghasped. He is 85. He said I looked like some of the things he had seen on the front lines during World War II.
Yes, that's why I stopped altogether. I was drinking myself to sleep every single night for a few years and it was taking a toll on me. I even went to AA for a while, but fell away since I didn't really feel it. Now I go to church, but just do what is best for you. Noone can really tell you what to do in life. You'll find your own way. peace.
Occasional yeah if the company's good! I do! but my god do I pay for it the next day!
I used to drink, and I only drank to get so smashed out of my mind, that I wouldn't remember how the night went. It was a way of self-medicating for me.

Good luck and take care of you!

Been there.Done that. Quit forever.
Bad for the mind. Bad for the liver.
Hard on the family.
No matter how many bottles I drank, it did not solve a single problem.
Yep
I think it called the f**k it's! I used to get them very often now I don't drink, sober for over 4 years courtesy of AA, best thing I ever did. x
No, but I used to drink a lot a few years back, it was the partying. Thankfully I came off it, it just doesn't taste anymore.
i believe that is also known as 'addiction'
yes...sometimes...this weekend could be one of those times i fear...i moved house yesterday...and myself and my sister are flying over to Spain in a few hours until sunday afternoon for my mums 60th birthday...plus which my sister and i have never had even so much as a mini break together...ever...so i think its going to be one of those weekends!...;0)
Yeah. can't stop peeing because of it.

I'm paying for drinking too much lastnight.
my son does this sometimes, last night he ended up in a & e as he passed out. it worries me
No, I never do, I know some one who does and he's so special, and I hate it when he beats himself up, and blots out life. It's at those times I don't even know who I'm talking to.

Well I don't drink alcohol as I am allergic to it. This has led me to uncontrollable bouts of rage and dizziness where I just need to slap the nearest Englishman and insist he withdraw the troops.
