I have emotional rollercoasters?

Question:
Alot of things in my life are difficult for me, like trusting other people and just taking life as it comes. I find myself always on this emotional rollercoaster where I experience these highs and lows, the highs are high and the lows are very low.

Im tired of it, I just wanted to level headed and not let my emotions guide me anymore to the extent they do. How can I exert control over my feelings when my mind knows its best not to feel the way I am.

Answers:
The real answer will depend on where your are in your life right now. If your emotions are to the point of overtaking your life and you're barely able to function, then it would be a good idea to see a doctor or psychiatrist that can offer medications to help you function through the day.

I would also suggest doing some research on Bipolar Disorder and Manic Depression. Each of these have symptoms of highs and lows that you describe. However, just having highs and lows does not mean that you have these disorders.

If you're just experiencing normal highs and lows, then it might be worth looking into some of the Root Causes. Very often people will have strong emotionally reactions to an event, but what they are really reacting to is something that has taken place many years before.

An example may be a guy that had a girlfriend that left him for his best-friend in high school. Now 20 years later, this guy gets upset anytime he sees his wife talking with his friends. He isn't reacting to his wife but rather to the event many years before.

Most of us aren't conscious of all the entangled emotions that we have. But there are many different methods and techniques that can help you to sort through your emotions.

Of course my opinion is that it is always easier have someone with training help you to sort through and release all the emotions, reactions and confusion.
now that you realize that there's a problem, and you dislike it, try to figure out how to control it
see a good physician and explain your symptoms. you could be bipolar. it is a managable condition.
Think and feeling go hand it hand.

As I just told someone else in this forum, your mind is a movie that you control and you are the director.

Find something good in everything you do. Find something good in everyone you meet. Smile and show that you appreciate them.

Plan to do something you really want to do. Put all your energy into it.

Think about how you are going to accomplish exactly what you want. Focus your attention on this and ignore every thing else.

Do what you need to do every day and do what you really want to do at least once a day.

I write a lot of self-help articles on my web log.
