Question:
Answers:
Not necessarily. There is a wide variety of conditions and illnesses that can cause hallucinations. You need a complete physical exam to rule out medical illnesses that may be causing them. Substance intoxications and withdrawals (and side effects of some medications) and major psychiatric illnesses commonly cause them. You also have to look at other symptoms that may present to help determine the cause of them. The type of hallucinations can also be important. Hallucinations of sight, touch and smell are usually associated with medical illnesses or substance-related disorders. Auditory hallucinations of voices are most commonly seen in schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and mood disorders.
It would depend on the type of hallucination. If you have recently experienced trauma, you could be reacting to that. There really is no way to say without having spoken directly with you. Please find a psychologist or psychiatrist in your area and make an appointment for evaluation. Left untreated the situation could get worse.
It could. But also if you're suffering from severe depression you could have psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations. You should consider seeking help.
More information is needed to give a valuable response. How frequently do these hallucinations occur? Are they accompanied by any other symptoms (i.e. catatonic trances, God complex, et cetera)? I would suggest that you get evaluated by a certified psychologist. Also, try to observe the situation you are in when the hallucinations occur. They may be stress/depression induced, or, as the answerer below suggested, dream-related.
you could be in dream state, I do that if I stay up really late and try to fight sleep, sometimes its scary like I'm hearing ghosts, but then I fall asleep and things are fine
