They don't necessarily trace your email addy. They trace your IP address. Some depression chatrooms reserve the right to give out your IP address to authorities if you are actively suicidal. Other chatrooms refuse to let suicide even be discussed- telling the individual to seek immediate help- call 911 or go to the hospital. Any talk of suicide is taken seriously.

If you need to talk to someone about your thoughts it would not be construed as you being crazy. If you have those thoughts you should share them with someone you trust. If you dont trust anyone around you then try to speak to a councilor at one of the United Way places. They are really good at getting you someone to speak to.

There is nothing a person can do about a site recieving your ip address unless you have a program like "Ghostsurf".
