Can you still get panic attacks when you are on anxiety medication?
Question:
Answers:
Unfortunately, yes. Particularly the 2-4 weeks after you begin medication. Some anxiety sufferers have reported their symptoms are even worse than before during this time.
If you've been taking the medication beyond 6 weeks and you're still not feeling better than before, you should consider letting your doctor/psychiatrist know. S/he may discuss a different medication with you.
Sadly, it's rare that anxiety and/or depression sufferers will recover completely from their affliction via medication alone, although a combination of therapy and medication can produce a full recovery, or remission.
yes, if it is not the right meds/dosage for you
cheers!
Yes, you can. My best friend suffers from severe anxiety/panic disorder, it's debilitating. She's on meds for it. However, she does have attacks at times. But, the medication makes it more bearable for her, and she can work through them better.
Yes, of course you can. The meds may help and usually do... but they are not magic. One thing to try is to LET yourself have the attacks. You will not die. If you can relax enough to tell yourself that ' Oh, gee...another panic attack'... and I'll get through it... you may be able to reduce your anxiety. Every time you 'let it go' is one step closer to freedom. Have a specially wonderful week. Hugs, Gina C.
Well everyone is different and a different medication is effective for each individual. I take 1 mg Lorazepam and it controls my anxiety attacks about 92%..that 8% I have to take care of through deep breathing, no caffeine, eating right and doing yoga. I choose to not take a higher dose of Lorazepam because its addicting and I want to learn to cope with the anxiety on my own, not with drugs.
If you are on the WRONG drug, it can make anxiety worse. You must stay in very close contact with the prescribing doctor.
