Why does one call their siblings by the wrong name?

Question:

Have 4 kids and for some dumb reason when we all get together, I call Dana, Mary, and Mary Lillian and Lillian...Dana. This only happens when I am talking with them, if I talk with a friend etc. I never get it wrong. Of course I know who they are, it's kind of like when you say eacon and beggs instead of bacon and eggs, it just comes out! It isn't due to age, I did it when in 30's.

I've talked with other ladies and this happens to them too. Anyone know why?

Im not laughing at you but it reminds me of growing up and my mother could never get my name right. She would sometimes throw in the livestocks names before she got to me. How bad do you think I felt being called a cows name before my own. Now it seems kinda funny but back then I felt realy bumbed that the animals names were remembered before mine. I think it is just natural. Im a man and I suck with names. I have been miss identified so many times I answer to my brothers names and my fathers name. I dont even think about it anymore.

You named your kids Mary, Lillian, and Mary Lillian (and Dana)? No wonder you always get their names mixed up!
