When I am at work I get really nervous when someone asks me a question so nervous that I can't think straight.

Question:
I feel constant anxiety and I can't relax. I like my job but people have to come to me with problems and I have to solve them. I almost panic everytime and I literally can't think. It feels like my head hums or buzzes almost. I know that sounds weird. I tried breathing exercises they don't work. I am in training for this job but I am having a hard time learning and remembering because I have so much anxiety. I wish I could drink vodka at work becuase alcohol takes that feeling away. I have quit jobs before because of this and I don't want prescription meds because I get side effects from them...i've tried many types. Therapy is out of the question due to money issues and I just wont' go to it. I don't have health insurance at this time. Anybody else have this problem? It's embarrassing and I have to try to mask it even when I am eating lunch with people or just taking breaks and talking. I am super fidgety and can't stop moving and can't relax. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?

I have your problem, but not as extreme. I bet your stomach gurgles and jumps and stuff. You lack confidence in your self for doing this job. Of course you do, because you are new. Everything new, I am always nervous about. I have learned that it is better to be honest to others about what you know and don't know. Write down notes so you can remember stuff. I don't mean to tell them I am a nervous wreck. If you feel comfortable, you could tell the one training you. Ex: If someone ask where a file is, and you have no clue. Tell them, you know I am not for sure. I will look for it and get back to you or just ..I'll get back to you. Then find the trainer and say, "I know I should know this but could you go over this one more time with me and because I can't remember everything off the top of my head, I'm taking notes." Thank them for being patient with you and that you appreciate them and they will usually be more than willing to help you. If the trainer was the previous person who held the job, and you have no one to go to but your boss, then go to your boss with the same attitude. Most people like to help and love to hear compliments, like-"You know there is so much to learn and remember, I don't know how you do it. I don't know how I can do it without my handy notebook." Of course once things are done in repetition you will pick up and remember those things just like everyone else. You have to believe in yourself and do take deep breaths and slow down and don't rush yourself so much that you make errors.
This is normal.
try st. johns wort! works great for me! and noooo side effects. it will start working about the 5th day or so gl
Alcohol takes the feeling away? That's not a good thing. You sound like an alcoholic.

Did it ever occur to you to see a doctor? They do make anti-anxiety medications.
The problem here is your focus. You must focus on yourself and your thought process rather than thinking about the speculation of others. It's called analysis paralysis. You must almost become self centered when it comes to problem solving. It's very important that you are focusing on yourself when thinking of the answer rather than a person's response because the stress shorts your brain. Breathing deeply Will help you calm and the rest does with how much focus and intention you have to really be calm and focus solely on thinking about the answer to your problem to this exclusion of all else.
I have anxiety in many situations too,and I don't like to take the prescribed meds. all the time. I am glad to have them when needed though. I like essential oils.
Try Lavender oil .(It is very calming .)
I ,mix 10 drops lavender oil
10 drops rosemary oil (for clear thinking)
You can carry it with you and use it like perfume . It can help calm you and help you think clearly, as well as the people near you ! Use it whenever needed .I have been for years. also, keep up the breathing!
You were chosen for the job because you can do it ! So ,take a deep breath ,of your new perfume , and just do it .
Good luck w/ the new job ,be confident
