Seeing Wicked tomorrow?
Question:
I'm not on any anxiety medication yet so that isn't going to be any help.
Does anyone have any advice for what I can do to keep my anxiety down to a minimum for about 6 hours?
Thanks.

A coping mechanism you can use is called "grounding". Place your hands on a firm surface and take three slow deep breaths, remind yourself that you are safe, and with people that will help you if it becomes to overwhelming. You can also do this sitting in a chair and use your feet instead of your hands. Therapists use this as an anti-anxiety technique, I would practice before going into the situation that would trigger thoes feelings.
Stay close to people you know, and just think about when you will be able to get home. Don't worry, nothing will happen. I envy you so bad... XP
Self-hypnosis. Imagine a peaceful, super-restful scene you can "go to" mentally, any time you start to feel slightly upset. It could be a real scene from your past (cuddling with your Mom or a pet) or an invented one, whatever works for you.
Good luck!
If you are experiencing bad anxiety, meds can be helpful. But, for tomorrow you could try meditating a few hours before you are suppose to leave. Also, you can try it tonight before you sleep. That helped me sometimes, but, the meds helped me alot when it got really bad. It always helped me to be around friends or family whenever I HAD to leave. Just remember that your friend will be with you. Does your friend understand the way you are feeling, sometimes it is helpful to discuss it? I've been feeling quite anxious myself, I don't even like going to the mailbox lately. Well, try to have a great time!
Wow. I know the feeling. Nothing seems real anymore. Everyone is a stranger to you. Not on any meds yet? Well, Try some some breathing excercises,Think of a calm place
and Most importantly, Ask your self"What is the worst that can happen here?I have friends around that care about me,I CAN handle this. I AM STRONG!!!!" Just try to enjoy the show, and not be up in your head too much.Easier said than done, I know. YOU CAN DO IT! Have a great time.:)
