Some people, like us, will struggle with anxiety throughout our lives. There's many different strategies for dealing with it, which of course will come as no surprise.

It depends what's causing it, for start. If it relates to something psychological, physical, or emotional...there can be different treatments.

Breathing excercizes are good, and there are other biofeedback strategies that help you calm your mind and body by controling your thoughts.

If you are overweight, both could be due to excercize. I find strenuous excercize is extremely helpful in reducing anxiety. Try walking short distances, and slowly increasing. This could help with both problems, and will get easier to do with time.

I personally hate the mall and grocery stores. One thing that helps me is to wear a hat and even sunglasses if necessary.

Psychologically, it can have a lot to do with being comfortable with who you are.

Try short periods of meditation. Lay down or sit comfortably, and focus on breathing. With out breaths, release anxiety. Focus on moving from toes to head and relaxing, and bring you mind always gently back to your breath. Practice for a while, like months, and try to do it longer...and eventually while you are out in everyday life, you can center on breathing when you feel that anxiety.

And lastly, try not to take life too seriously. Enjoy yourself, and figure out what it takes to be happy with who you are.

If none of this helps, then you can look into medications, see a psychiatrist, etc. It's helped for some friends, but it can take time to figure out what you need and how medications affect you. Best not to go there, but it's an option if necessary.

Good luck.
Talk to your parents about it and then schedule an appointment with your doctor. Your doctor will likely give you a prescription for an antidepressant, such as Zoloft, and possible an anxiolytic, such as Valium. You may or may not need to see a therapist, depending on the severity of your condition and your doctor. These WILL help you. Don't continue to suffer.
It sounds like you have a combination of problems. I agree with the first poster who said see your doctor - medical treatment is very effective but there are some problems with long term use especially if you are already struggling with weight. I would push to see a psychiatrist, psychologist, or counselor who is experienced in cognitive behavioral therapy and possibly desensitization therapy with your specific triggers would be useful. They have an amazing track record and with some work on your part, you may not be facing lifelong medication or social discomfort.
Well, I'm sure your first thought is that you'd like to crawl up in a fetal position in a dark room with a blanket over your head, right? But, that gets lonely and pretty boring! I have anxiety and depression, but only went to a doc for it a year or so ago. I'm in my forties! Malls were one of the worst places for me too! It's hard to be a shopoholic when you are to afraid to shop! I've left more than one grocery store with a basket full of food in the middle of aisle 1 !!! I've left theatres, hated driving, any social gatherings, etc... I felt like I was either going to pass out or nut up! Sound familiar!?!?! I'd get panic attacks where I seen sperm cells before my eyes and felt like I was going to suffocate. Did you know that during a panic attack, you breathe in TOO much oxygen? So, if that happens, concentrate on your breathing. Take in a slow deep breath, hold it, release to count of four. Do it for about a minute. You can do it anywhere and no one will even notice!...now, tell mom or dad or guardian. Ask to see a doc. Your regular doc if you have one. I take antidepressent, which help my anxiety too. 2 symptoms for the price of one pill a day!
Speak to your doctor about this. I have the same problems that you do and I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and panic attacks. My doctor put me on lexapro and a low dose of xanax. Plus, I go to a psychiatrist. The lexapro has really helped me a lot and I don't worry and feel nervous all the time anymore. Definately talk to your doctor and tell them all your symptoms and when you get anxious. Medication and counseling can help you get through this.
Best thing to do is to see the doctor. There are medications and therapies out there to treat GAD. Medications, such as Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Cymbalta, Effexor XR, Lexapro are very effective. Cognative Behavior Thearpy is one of the best therapies used to treat GAD. Best of luck.
