Help with suicide?
Question:
Someone please tell me what to do, the person is located in Vermont. Someone has called the police and all the police did was knock on their door and ask if they were alright, so I'm doubting that 911 will help. Need alternatives please.
Answers:
Try your local or their local suicide prevention hotline and see if they can give you some ideas. Hope everything turns out alright.
Be careful. I'm glad you want to help, but you can really get hurt here.
Be a good samaritan but don't jump on the sword with them.
You would need to be creative - can you get them to tell you how to call them? How do you know that the police were there? Have you asked them what sort of help they have sought before?
why dont you just talk to them and see what is bothering them, and see if you can help in anyway
if you know this person on a personal/close level call them and listen to them, and console them for as long as they need it, urge them to talk to their family and/or call a suicide hotline. if you dont know this person on a personal level call someone who does, otherwise there is not much more that can be done
How well do you know this person, because this person may just be an attention getter and is coming up with this to get attention from online friends. Some people thrive on attention whether it is negative or positive they thrive for it... If this person is for real well then if you have tried talking to them and they are still wanting to hurt them self then unfortunately there is nothing you can do. except try and convince them to get medical attention immediately.
All I can think of is if you know their name or address, you might can look one of those up in a reverse directory like Anywho and contact someone in the house hold or near them.
Try to make sure this is legitimate and not drama; this is the person's decision (or they could be wanting your attention.) Ultimately, you are more a third party and the responsibility lies with this person's family and friends.just something for you to think about. I agree with your first correspondant. don't hold yourself responsible.
