Help with my porn addiction please?
Question:
Outside my addiction I am a well-behaved 17 year old boy who claims to be a Christian. I don't feel like much of one though. I have had this going on since I was 14 and I have been trying to stop it for so long. I am fine until I see some stimulating thing and then I completely shut down. I try praying for help but it doesn't come.
I realize how I am hurting myself and how much of a bad person and a sicko I am and it doesn't stop me. I am sexually abstinent and a complete virgin who never does anything sexual outside this. I have a girl that I am starting a relationship with and I just try to think about how I would be disappointing her but that doesn't help either. Anyone every overcome this? Please help me, I can't do this on my own.
Answers:
theres nothing wrong with looking a porn every once in a while. i mean, if you have the urge, why not let it happen?? masturbating or whatever you are doing isnt a sin, its sexual pleasure. theres absolutely nothing wrong with this. dont let it get to your head, youre perfectly normal
You are the only person that has total control of your body. That includes what you think and how you respond to it. It's not unusual for any guys to look at porn, men are visual beings. But, if you think you've got a problem, you need to be the one to put the stop to it. You are much stronger than you think.
keep dating,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,real girls are better than porn(most of the time).....do not judge yourself to harshly.....there are people killing people out there
Best medicene and help is to confide in your pastor, priest or religious leader. Pray about it with a sincere heart. Ask someone to be a trusty friend..like in an AA meeting. to call you or give great advice in your situation.
Check out a book called "Breaking the Cycle of Compulsive Behavior" by Martha Nibley Beck and John C Beck. It is written from a Christian perspective and addresses many of the things you described. It deals with three types of compulsive behavior: drug use, pornography, and eating disorders which all share similar pathways...abstinence, then indulgence, then shame and self-loathing etc. The point of the book is to recognize the cycle and replace the compulsive cycle with a productive one.

How to avoid porn addiction on the Internet
1. Consider installing porn content filtering software( Strongly Recommend NetDog Porn Filter, you can get it from www.netdogsoft.com ) on your computer. it will help to protect you from stumbling into pornography by accident, That's important.
2. Do not try to guess what the address of a Web page is. Many pornographic sites have similar addresses of respectable sites. For example www . whitehouse . com is a porn site. The real address is www. whitehouse . gov
3. Never click on Web site addresses that you receive in an unsolicited email.
4. Do not open attachments that come in email that are unsolicited.
5. Use filtered search engines or reputable directories to find the information you need.
6. Do not search for terms like girls. Think before you enter a search term.
Stick with reputable sites.
If something looks questionable, don't let curiosity get the best of you. Delete it or close the window.
