Does anybody know of any books that assist with not having your emotions affected by others?

Question:
My psychologist friend states it's not empathy. Empathy is when you feel for others, but your emotions aren't affected.

Answers:
There are many self-help books available in book stores.

One I found truly helpful was Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr.Maxwell Maltz.

Also Dr. Phil has a number of books that you might enjoy.

As a start read some of my articles at

school books.
i think that if i were able to remain emotionally detached, i would lose my greatest tool for dealing with life's mystery: the trick is to be objective and aware of how deeply our feelings alter our behaviors. don't blame other people for how you are "made" to feel, because WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN RESPONSES
